Debating the Burqa

I am a bit surprised that you don't know..my guess would be either black on women has some significance in Islam or its adorned so that women look unattractive to other men.

I dont like to guess...I have a few theories but they are mine not a reason....Prob the later as that was 1 of my theory too....so that it would look unpleasant to others....But you got there on your own so I guess it is common for men to think that way!

The objections to the burqa are a bit valid in some way..You never know who's behind the burqa...

Only people who really want to talk to the girl would approach her not coz of her beauty but prob they know she has finished her assignment - for her brains or something!

.I haven't communicated to a burqas wearing woman ever in my life. ..even though I see hundreds of them a day, I guess that's one of the reasons - so that strangers don't talk to their women.

Frankly speaking most burqa wearers i know wear it as a statement its a way for them too sort of display their religiosity

Yes most in Sub continent do that....Some do that coz they have been brainwashed to thinking it is more pious...But those who don it in UK (at least the converts) do it coz they feel closer and think they need to make up for not being born a Muslim or something....Others do it to please god....I dont question its between them and god why should I make it my business do I not have anything better to do??

What does your carnival do that requires a woman not to be able to choose her own dressing style? Do tell me what does your carnival require you to do that involves hating her clothes if she doesnt look like you?

My own view, if you would like to wear the veil, do so in Muslim countries. It just attracts way to much negative attention in Europe (negating its purpose), where it clashes with cultural norms. Very few Europeans batter an eye lid, when seeing Muslim females in Western clothes and a headscarf. But wear a Jilbab and niqab, they won't stop staring at you and will view you as a threat.
