Death threats force first female Afghan air force pilot to reconsider career decision

1. She is an Afghan air force pilot and nothing to do with Pakistan so why would Swat Taliban threaten her instead of Pakistani female pilots?

2. Again why would a small Pakistani Taliban group from Swat would be concerned about what a woman in Afghanistan doing when our own country Pakistan has more female pilots as well as we have first women jirga/jirgas regularly taking place.

3. cultural activities/sports events are taking place in Swat.

4. if she had resigned then she must be facing opposition from her own countrymen and family . may be she is afraid to attribute this story to Afghan Taliban hence she is trying to cash name of Swat Taliban

I'm not sure what the contention around TTP is but this story has been reported by several sources.

Anyhow I'm in no position to judge the veracity of the story (perhaps other people here have an instantaneous pulse on all the happening in Afghanistan) -- except that it has been reported by multiple sources -- some of them very credible like the Wall Street Journal.

Further, stories like this are nothing new, even in conservative areas of Pakistan.

Such stories are reported by Western media outlets happily. The objection is not over its publication. It brings attention so indeed the entire world can publish it. The simple and straight question here is that why would Swat Taliban threaten an Afghan female pilot who has nothing to do with bombing Pakistani Taliban by her jet in anyway.

The simple question is if Swat taliban are perturbed by any anti-Islam thing why they did not threaten Pakistani female pilots? why not threaten locals who are currently taking part in heart of Swat in many cultural activities?

It is as simple as anything that this story makes no sense.

I think your point pre-supposes that the TTP (or for that matter of fact humans) are completely rational actors -- they are not. I think sending an assassin to shoot a 14 year old girl (Malala) makes less sense than threatening this Afgjam pilot.

Further, the TTP has been supporting the Afghan Taliban in attacks on Afghanistan after being pushed out of Pakistan (they've changed their theater of operations). In fact many Afghans see the operation by Pakistan as a nefarious way to push the TTP into Afghanistan. Actually not only Afghans but Western analysts have voiced suspicion at the intent and timing of Rahe-e-Rast.

OK, It is fair to express doubt on the story, all the Western media bought the story that Iraq had WMDs -- I think it is even fair to issue snide comments on the story. But to label it as false, would, IMHO fall outside the expertise of most members of this form.

Now if you have special insight -- like you spoke to official so and so; journalist so and so; the pilot is a member of your extended family and have some information beyond what these multiple sources are citing then let's hear that.
