Recently, I lost someone to the pandemic and was a part of the process that saw them lose in the end to the virus. There were times when everyone was hopeful but in the end it proved too much. I've been in situations where I've buried more people than I would have liked to in one lifetime and have seen people succumb to death both professionally and personally.

I must say that the current laxness that I'm seeing all around to the pandemic is quite worrisome for me because I don't want to see people go through what I did. It isn't easy because it's different. You cannot say goodbye now, as the recommended thing to do is to avoid funerals and wrap the body in heavy plastic sheets for burial. All religions enable mourning (psychologically) by giving the grieving members a chance to say goodbye as the person unites with their Creator.

This feels quite different as it's taken away from us.

However, in the end we are insignificant in the grand scheme of things no matter what our faith or view of the world/ universe is. Death is the great equalizer for all. We must find meaning in the suffering otherwise, are we even alive even if we're living?

I dedicate this to all those who've lost someone.

Do not go gentle in that good night.

Stay safe and keep the quarantine on everyone. With you in all our tribulations.

I know someone personally who is on a ventilator right now fighting for his life and his mother has already succumbed to Covid-19 and lost her life.

This virus is very dangerous and people should not make light of it and think it is just another "flu".

Agreed, brother, my prayers with your friend. I can feel what they went through.

There are others as well in my local community that have passed away - multiple members in one family:(

I find it hard to believe that there are people in the UK who are accusing the government of overreacting and imposing severe "lockdown" measures. This is the only current method that the government has of stopping hundreds of thousands of deaths over a space of only a few months and it has to use it.

My father had been on ventilator for two weeks in UAE due to Covid-19. He couldn't survive the virus and passed away on 1st May.
No good-byes, no participation in funeral, no seeing or even hearing him for the last time.
All this is making it impossible to understand the fact that he is no more.
I pray that no one else goes through such thing. All you do is feel empty or nothing at all.

I am so sorry for your loss, my dear brother, I pray for your father's soul. I know exactly what you mean, I went through it just a few days ago as well. If you ever feel like talking, please, do. I took peace in the thought that at least the suffering of the person has ended. May Allah grant you and your family the strength to make it through this hard time. Ameen.
