Actually, India at the time was not limited China to North eastern states as PLA was coming down at the western sector as well. Its from this position that PLA could break into North Indian Plan or toward J & K. There was no major Indian defensive line between the PLA and the Indian capital. That is why people speculated that if China placed enough troops in that theatre, it can overran north Indian plan.

The US indeed sent a carrier to IOR. However, because of the cease fire, the ship was called back. I do not remember where was the ship from, 7th fleet? Back then, there were no Indian Ocean fleet as it is today.

Its not true that India almost lost Delhi. It was just a theory of what PLA could do if it has enough troops in that theater. US and USSR was about to intervene any way so China was wise to pull back. So Delhi was never threatened.

During cold war, China first sided with Russia and then the US. India was a staunch Russian allie. US would had supported India in 1962 because it viewed Russia and China as one bloc. Even though Russia essentially supported India at the time.

This is the major difference between CCP and KMT: KMT kisses American's *** until got dumped, CCP fought with both the US and Russian.

Qing dynasty military doctrines at the time only look at the numbers, not the actual training of troops/sailors and deployment of troops and ships. The generals were not knowledgable enought to fight a modern war at the time. So it failed miserably.

Can't blame it completely on the generals, recent research shows that they actually did pretty well tactic wise.

They used armour piercing shells when they should be using high explosives. And due to corruption and embezzlement some of these shells were 'empty', hollowed out or filled with wood shavings

low level officers were undeciplined, they smoke opium and gamble.
Japan bought their ship from Germany as well, infact due to chinese dithering one of the ships with bigger and better arms intended for them was bought up instead by the japanese.

anyways, there's no chinese aggression. if there was, the war would be short. the indian navy's total tonnage is comparable to something like south korea or the RoC. in fact, the RoC has more destroyers and frigates than india, never mind mainland china's 77 destroyers and frigates. to even match one chinese province, indian navy has a long, long way to go.

air force: indian air force is 2/3 the size of ours, but no airborne ground troops. also doesn't even produce its own aircraft but shamefully buys from foreign countries.

ground force: india's ground force is half the size of ours, doesn't use any locally produced tanks or guns.

if there was chinese aggression, how long will the war last? we're trying to negotiate at all cost, your media is the one attacking us.

India's capital is within the operational range of our guided rockets, our land based CJ-10 can easily eliminate most high level officers at the very beginning of war, tell me why we need to have the above comparison?

remember this dude: if we have conflict with india on sea, we don't need to use our navy. a few thousands shots of guided rocket to New Delhi can immediately stabilize the situation.
