Dawood's conversation recorded by Western intelligence agency, location traced to Karachi

BTW I was just wondering about the number of wanted terrorists around the world hiding in London, Canada, USA, Switzerland, EU etc.

Does someone has a figure?

We can start with Chechen, BLA, and so on.

While I am not apologizing for the man.. I dont think he pulled the trigger. The man is a fixer more than a hitman. Although it is likely that he could have done so in retaliation for what India was doing in Karachi in the period 91-92.. and I lived through that period... every other day you heard of some RAW spy caught here and there.. although in 60% of the cases it was some fellow from MQM that the Army wanted dead.. who just happened to be conveniently dark skinned and "bhai-lingual" enough to be picked up as a RAW agent. Still, a lot of Indian fellows were caught during those times.. trying to stir up Shia-Sunni riots(in cahoots with the Iranians for whom the Saudis gladly stepped in to "help"). The Tit for tat has much longer history than the ages of most of the members here.

Not all of that holds water. While Kaskar is as venal and mercenary as any other gangster...... he got involved in the Bombay Bombings for mainly two reasons; he suddenly discovered religion/deen (albeit not completely but enough to react knee-jerk fashion). More importantly his "protectors" in the Deep State really "had the goods" on him and they then "made him an offer that he could not refuse". After that things came out of his grasp and he had adjust to the life of a Fugitive. Even his erstwhile patrons in the GCC have lifted the "saaya" from above his head.

Right Now on CNNIBN

The headlines point out that Western Intelligence Agencies have recorded a property deal between Dawood and some one in Dubai. The caller have been traced to Clifton, Karachi.

@sreekumar @TejasMk3 @gslv @DRAY and others. I am in a hurry to see the news.

Sadly, you trying to romanticize this character. He is no version of any gangster. Gangsters don't go about planting bombs all over a city to simply to target civilians and private institutions were they collect. All at the behest of some government agency.

He was an opportunist, in that to win residency in Pakistan he perpetrated the attack. A terrorist attack. Your countries almost went to war over this!

Not at all. I still think he is a terrorist... & a nasty one at that! It's just that the media in India tend sensationalise any news pertaining to this goon without realising the sensitivities... & my comments are made in that context!

I respectfully could not disagree any more. I'm sorry. A man who kills hundreds of civilians in act of terror on a city, is not at the same level as someone who runs a money laundering operation.

I write this as an admitted fan of the person you are disagreeing with. In my reading, Oscar was talking about the responses evoked by the two types, not their intrinsic worth or intrinsic evil. It is not the case that the man we are talking about was merely a money launderer; he was - is - a terrorist. But he is a terrorist with facets to his workings that other terrorists do not have, and these, money-laundering among them, building mosques, generally being useful to the governments which give him refuge, and so on, give him far greater weight and make him far different to catch and to hand over than would otherwise be the case.

Forgive my tortured syntax.

Joe..... that sort of inherent contradiction or paradox is nothing new or unusual in South Asia; whether its a gangster on the streets of Nagpada in Bombay or a local politician in Metiabruz or Ekbalpore in Calcutta....... or reverse the gangster and the politician in the respective cities!

Lets play lists....while we are at it, where is mine?

Here, L.K. Advani plays at number 3. :warning2:

Oh wrong, that was for Brahamdas Bughti.

.
India Should launch surgical strikes against dawood ibrahim.......... Oh and also against namaloom afrad.

.
How come indian media get all the information about their intelligence operations ?

. .
I have no love for Dawood Ibrahim or Hafiz Saeed or whatever..... But here is the thing; every country is filthy here. Let's consider,

Fazalullah finds refuge in Afghanistan and Afghan government has no problem with it. BLA leaders live in Dubai and India, no problem either. And to our ultra clean, terrorism hating humanity loving western governments? Where did dictators of south America find refuge? Criminals living in London? Oh the Altaf Bhai, on charge for dozens of murders and responsible for ordering murders and killings of thousands sitting in very heart of western society. How is Scotland Yard moving, very fast huh? Remember terorrists who killed Pakistanis in trains and bus stations sent by RAW ? Confessed, evidence produced and sentenced guilty! Not so clean, are we now? And we condemn terrorism always? Nah.... too much investment at stake. So please set your sentiments aside for a moment, it is a dirty game and all play it including West. Everyone has got his own good terorrist.

And to me it's just sad, the hypocrisy of all of us.
