Islamabad—Raymond Davis tangle no longer seems intractable after a most friendly country stepped in to help Pakistan in seeking a solution, keeping in view Islamabad’s long-term national interests in both internal and external terms, credible sources confided to Pakistan Observer.

When asked for naming the country, the source said surely it was a Muslim country. It was almost understood that it was Saudi Arabia who in the past had been highly concerned over Pakistan’s difficulties and always helped it out.

This scribe has credible information that the bereaved families of the three Pakistanis, killed in a recent tragic incident in Lahore, involving U.S citizen Raymond Davis, would be motivated to accept blood money with moral support of the Saudi Arabian mission in Pakistan. Once Raymond Davis is out, he is likely to be declared persona non grata and expelled out of the country. That would remove the bitter irritant hovering over the U.S-Pakistan relations, clearing the way forward in the direction of long-term strategic ties between the two countries.

Political observers in Islamabad attached special significance to the visit of Commander, Royal Saudi Land Forces, Lt. General Abdul Rahman Bin Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Mershed in the current scenario when Pakistan would ill-afford undue strain on its relations with U.S. These observers also feel that after resolution of the Raymod Davis issue, the likes of Raymond, if any, “would also be taken care” of in accordance with Pakistan’s national interests, albeit in keeping with norms of international law and diplomacy.

1) Pulling out all CIA agents from Pakistan
2) Releasing Dr. Aafia Siddique
3) Compensating families

I reckon this David Raymond issue is gonna come back and bite Pakistan in next couple of years.

After the public anger over this incident, and the fact that even the pro-American PPP government was unable to release him despite outright threats, blackmail and cajoling by the US, I doubt the US thinks it will be able to get away with another incident, or that the ISI is going to tolerate undeclared operations by the US.

It also gives the ISI a very good reason to once more start stringent checks on Visa applications for US officials, and the Americans are going to have a hard time complaining about that again, given that they were caught with their pants down with Raymond Davis.

Am pretty sure all the information must have been squeezed out of him by now. I mean he has been under custody for over a month now . If he really was a spy, he must have blown a lot of covers by now and divulged lot of information.

I can't fathom why is there so much outrage among PDF Pakistanis. There is the provision of blood money in their law is there not? Why can RD not be a beneficiary of this provision? I'm sure in the past too many people have availed benefit of this blood money thingy. What's wrong if RD does it too?
