If you have been following the literature of the past several years, you will note that many responsibilities of the US are being transferred over to the old Master - and especially Pakistan, English played a key role in ousting Musharraf and in rehabilitating Nawaz and his entry into Pakistan --- this particular trip is very curious, there has been no preparation of the public nor an agenda announced and my strong impression is that the talks in Doha may figure prominently. Don't be too surprised if preliminary exploratory talks about the possibility of a Obama visit in the next 2 to 3 years are also discussed

Probably at the behest of the US, they're playing damage control after Kerry snubbed Afghanistan and went straight to New Delhi.

Either that or they feel some sort of responsibility towards Pakistan as it's former colonial master and currently as a member of the commonwealth of nations, kind of like what France does with it's former colonies.

...This is me being optimistic, in all reality, this could just be them pressuring Pakistan to do what the US want.

It is shameful how these European Countries like UK, France, Germany and Italy act like US Bull Dogs and go around doing US bidding. They have absolutely no self respect.

I don't know about France and Germany, they've been pleasantly independent in recent years. especially Germany.

Germany has been keen to develop military relations with Pakistan, but EU regulations keep getting in the way. Recent developments show that Germany may be looking at ways to bypass those restrictions.
