I do not see anything wrong with the UN deceleration of human rights . It is a goo thing.
UK may well ditch it themselves and replace it with UK charter of rights. You are right that UK like many western countries have used it to harass other countries but by and large the barometers set by the UN is applied in legal cases in the UK.
UNDHR is fundamentally contrary to islam. Whether its women's rights, gender equality, sexuality, family issues of marriage / divorce, freedom of speech, freedom of religion etc etc. Its because UNDHR is based on western liberal principles of individualism and secularism. Notions of society being made up of atomised individuals with no obligation to family or society and is totally free and such individuals r completely rational . Or notions such as religion is man-made anyway and there should be a separation of religion & state. These notions r completely alien and contrary to islam.
UNDHR is the reason why u here western countries asking muslim states to reform as per their standards. They literally ask muslim lands to even ban islamic family law. Different social development index are based on western parameters of measuring human rights. So essentially no developing state can go to the level of developed western countries in terms of "human development" unless they totally adopt western culture and values , in other words muslim lands have to practically abandon islam to comply with UNDHR. "Developed " S.Korea recently legalized adultery gaining praise from human rights commissions.
islamic scholars through out the world have always opposed UNDHR. Its cultural imperialism.
Btw i don't care what UK does in their land. secularism & liberalism is something that originated in europe due to their tussle with a paganised intolerant christianity. Its unique to western socio-cultural and political development and nothing to do with the rest of the world let alone the muslim world. They should mind their own business and should not poke nose in muslim lands.
