Darren Sammy reveals he was called 'kalu' during IPL

Flags don't mean anything on an online forum, your profile picture says something else, doesn't it?
My post history is open to scrutiny.

Did not expect it from you as you have read many of my posts unlike him. You should have known better.

What does it say?

You should tag the administration and ask them to do an IP check. If I am an Indian, you won't see me again on this forum.

They'll never admit it, but caste programming causes this at a subconscious level. Without realising it, middle class British Hindus and Sikhs routinely engage in casual racism and discrimination, whether against blacks, Pakistanis or Muslims in general. We vividly recall the slurs against Moeen Ali from Indian supporters at cricket matches in UK. They can't plead ignorance either since they clearly aren't from the lower rungs of the socio-economic ladder. This is all due to sanghee programming, not the ignorance of poverty. Don't get me wrong, plenty of Pakistanis engage in such casual racism too, however, it is much less in incidence because (a) being on the receiving end from Indian sanghees has caused our community to reflect and realise it is not a productive pattern of behaviour to engage in, and (b) Islamic principles wholly discredit racism and caste discrimination.

Agree wholeheartedly - only the other day I was dealing with a chap that’s probably darker than Sammi who was from India - name was Miyank - as the conversation got in depth he requested that I call him Mike as that’s what his friends and family called him. This happens too frequently and suggest some of them actually believe and dream of actually been “more accepted” by western white society.
Let them be I guess - let them pretend that the white man will love you more because with your name you have become one of them.

In my post I said clearly some Pakistanis do this also. I'm not going to pretend that the problem is worse among Pakistanis though, because it really isn't.

. . . . .
I am an extensively traveled man. I have lived in UAE, Kuwait, USA, Switzerland & the UK. I have also visited 31 other countries, some multiple times (Singapore about 20, Iran, France, Italy & Cuba about 8 times). To some extent, I found racism in nearly every community. I am therefore with the protectors as long as the protest remains peaceful.

Let me first define ‘Racism’. Generally speaking, ‘Racism’ is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against person or persons of a different race, culture, or language based on the belief that one's own is superior. Since over the centuries, religion including sectarianism has caused so much discrimination, deaths & destruction within the nations; I would also include religious beliefs as one of the manifestations of racism. The racism can be covert (for polite) and overt in case of the uncouth

Based on my personal experience, I would say that Arabs especially the Kuwaitis & the Saudis are the worst. Iranians come next in line followed by Turks, Chinese & Pakistanis. Indians & Bengalis are not far behind.

Among the Whites / Europeans, Germans are the worst and Maltese the least. I found Blacks to be the least racists followed by the American Latinos. Re-religion, I found that be it Muslims, Christians, Jews, or Hindus; all devout followers are strongly prejudiced against other so-called non-believers.

Since most of the members are Pakistanis, wouldn’t my fellow countrymen agree that Pathans, Punjabis, as well as Sindhis, look down upon the Urdu speaking migrants from UP & Behar? I am sure that the feeling is reciprocated by the Urdu speakers also. Besides, I have personally experienced prejudice against me by the Pashtuns. Bengalis resent all West Pakistanis and refer to them as Punjabis. Kalabagh Dam has been in limbo for years, as despite all of its potential economic benefits, other provinces would not agree to its construction because Punjab stands to gain the most. Is this not ‘racism’?

The worst form of racism resulted in the gang-rape of Muktaraan Mai because her brother was accused of having illicit relations with a girl from a clan who was supposed to be ‘Superior’ than her caste?

Whatever we may think of the racist English & the US Whites, I regrettably have to admit that when it comes to the crunch, the South Asians ( Indians, Pakistanis & Bengalis) are as bad if not even worse racists.

Many would disagree with the above, nevertheless, that is how I honestly feel.

Never understood the logic of it tbh, legit came across brownies and Tamilians over here shitting on black people due to their skin colour...i had an African classmate bullied for the same reason

Then they get shocked when they see Pakistanis treat their slighty-darker-than-them South Indian cousins with human decency.

If that was true there wont be dozens of bollywood celebs working in whitening cream ads.

This racism is not unique to India, Pakistanis suffer from this complex as well. While at one point we gladly claim that Islam ends racism (which is true) but want fair skinned wives and routinely call people kala in our private conversations.

This is an exaggeration. In Pakistan, people marry all sorts. I have seen plenty of people marry darker people of both sexes. Complexion is just one aspect among many.

Among Punjabis maybe it is a little more due to high prominence of light skinned people among us too.

Being light skinned myself, people do comment on my skin color,, to which I say,, it is irrelevant and it is iman which is most important. That is something which I, and many others, believe firmly,

Ideal of beauty is unique among Pakistanis and generally favored lighter complexions (along with long nose, big eyes, light eyes/hair, etc.,) but however it is not the only parameter. We never mistreat dark people as a whole.

Also we don't necessarily consider White Europeans as beautiful. Pakistani concept of beauty standards is very unique to our country. Only comparable ethnic groups are Iran and Afghanistan.

Beauty standards of Pukhtoons, Kashmiris, Baloch, Sindhis, and Urdu speakers are also different, and not necessarily tied to color.

Actually being light-skinned Pukhtoon man is unfavorable among Pukhtoons and will make one the target of many jokes.

In the end the contempt of the poor by the rich will fuel the contempt of rich by the poor.

That day a promise will be fulfilled.

It’s derogatory to call someone by their skin color, is it also racist? We call black people in our country “Makrani” even though they may be living in Karachi or interior Sindh for centuries. Is that also Racism?
