What's new

Danger of final blow to BD's sovereignity is approaching

I'd say it boils down to the type of (ahem) 'talent' they attract.

It's of course not the best of the best, even considering the graft you can cash in.

That said - it still is somewhat better than the police of a lot of the neighboring countries (especially RAB) - which varies.

It isn't about being the best of the best. It is about the ability of doing one's job. This is not to blame them on an individual level. The whole force is largely dysfunctional with almost zero oversight. There's way too much politics, corruption and an attitude of indifference to protect the citizens of the country.

I guess such surveillance system already exists in Bangladesh, albeit, in a lesser amount. There have been some purchases of advanced surveillance systems from Italy (with Israeli design) by RAB in recent years. Also, there have been major hacking fests and workshops sponsored by the government for possible recruitment into RAB's Cyber Cell. Besides, BTRC seems to have reached a deal with Facebook; DMP now claims that Facebook in Bangladesh is controlled from the BTRC office.

However, all these surveillance activities seem to be directed towards suppressing the opposition parties. End of the day, everything comes down to the willingness of the government. For that, they really need to get rid of their regime insecurity...

The truth is that the regime only care about their personal security. They don't care about citizens despite all the lala talk.

And would those help boost RAB's credibility? I do not think so considering what had happened. They still have quite a few bad apples working there (Narayanganj murders ring a bell?) which doesn't help cement public's trust in them - The trust part is very important no matter what technologies they have. Hostage rescue is one of their tasks. It was, and never should be the job of the military.

See, there's a reason why the police and the military are separate. The police exist to protect the people. The military on the other hand fights the nation's enemies and ultimately destroy them. When the two are put together, the enemies become the people.

It should be no surprise that the majority of the corruption within government quarters are in the police force. I am sure you've seen on-duty police officers playing on their cell phones. That should never happen! Another example is putting all these zig-zag checkpoints in Gulshan creating a lot of traffic in the area (before the attacks). What for? There are serious loopholes in regards to coordination and who reports to whom. Let alone discipline and morale.

Those are just some examples.

Public perception of the police in general are largely very negative. Change can only occur abruptly. Call me a pessimist, but more of these attacks will come. The public are nervous.

.
But you are the ones who are supplying IED explosives to the ISIS terrorists! The suckular Baath Party members in Syria and Iraq provide the training and the sons of the BAL leaders in BD are found to be the students.
if you think so and accept it then go ahead and do another siege in BD or kill Sickular bloggers and glorify BD. All the Best!

Those militants didn't look that much trained, yet the combined efforts of the Police and RAB couldn't do anything!

The trust issue was always there, now it has only increased... And I guess the intelligence agencies also have a lot to answer...

The frequency of such attacks, both small and large, is definitely going to increase unless some effective changes are brought in. In that latest video message of ISIS, they have called for the Bangladeshi fighters to launch attacks in Bangladesh in whatever scale they can, instead of aspiring to go to Syria. It looks like they are discouraging foreign fighters to join them in Syria for some reasons.

The Sholakia blast does seem to be inspired by the message, though no claims have been made so far. More to come it seems...

The militants' training was better than the RAB I'd argue (but not better than the para-commandos, they folded in 15 minutes). The coordination within the RAB and that with the Para-commandos was sorely lacking and this will all come out in a report I'm sure. There should be a clear well-circulated pre-planned chain-of-command hierarchy on what action takes precedence over others (and by whom). Command in a triage situation should also be based on the predicted turn of events.

The whole hostage drama appeared to be a sort of a HO-JO-BO-RO-LO (cluster) situation to me. Every petty police schmuck is issuing blow-by-blow statements to the media, who told these idiots to pipe up?? These idiots should've been told not to say anything. To avoid confusion - the first rule of hostage triage is - statements come only from a police 'spokesperson' in measured manner, not every idiot with a badge. The attackers were getting updated on police action by the minute on Facebook posts and tweets.

Also - DMP/RAB SWAT ideally should have been there in an hour, not flying in para-commandos from Sylhet and them getting to the hostage scene in ten hours. Pathetic. All this money spent on RAB SWAT training and assets for nothing.

All this said though - I believe these guys still did well timewise, compared to the 2008 Mumbai attacks and that cross border attack in the Indian cantonment....those were other cluster situations......

The Sholakia attackers were a bunch of amateurs and got rebuffed well. The timing was bad too, for their part. Police were on a high alert considering the 'richness' of target and 'likelihood' of attacks.

Why should I commit terrorism because you supply IED explosives and the Baath scums provide training to the ISIS terrorists? Why should I commit terrorism against my own country to fulfill india's secret agenda in BD? Is this how you get your hired morons to commit terrorism? You are in an error if you think you are talking to one of your BAL trainees.

I do believe the militants involved in the Mumbai Attack were far better trained than those involved in the Gulshan Attack. The hostages could even call their relatives and media during the crisis from inside the bakery and the militants didn't even stop them, that seemed amateur...

I don't think RAB and DMP deserve any credit, the hostages were getting killed and they just stood still. They lacked the training or equipment, were ordered to halt, reluctant to fight or whatever the reasons are, the law enforcement agencies just cannot ignore their flaws. There is a huge lack of accountability...

The Army and para-commandos may deserve some applause but I guess the delay before the operation just minimized their effectiveness...

Ironic, isn't it that Hindu priests, atheists are getting killed lately and fictitious ISS is taking responsibilities only in the WEBSITES but no one has seen them like nobody hearing the name of JMB, HUJI before morphing to bombing forces? And funnier is that when puppets are denying or telling the truth after seeing the writing on the wall, master is now more vehement on spreading ISS's presence in BD. It's indeed the dark time for humanity.

The only question that remains is: in what form will the final blow be delivered? Will they organize a Hindu-Muslim riot. and move in to prevent? Will they manufacture a BD-Burma border war and come in to "protect" BD? Or like in Sikkim, have an act of parliament passed to amalgamate with India?

My gut feeling is that of the Sikkimish model but not exact anexation. I'm copy, pasting couple of my posts from a previous thread that would help you understand on how we have come to this point..

1.En mass infiltrations in key governmental and social sectors were the keys to Bolshevik's initial success over Tsar and by following that creedo; commies throughout the world built an empire that had lasted around 70 yrs. An important question would be on how the chief patron of the largest right-wing political party (BNP) allowed ex-commie (Mannan Bhuiyan) to be its secretary general? And why it didn't flush commies from TIB, DGFI, NSI's type important orgs begged even bigger question? Dumbness of BNP walas seemed didn't know no bound otherwise RAWAMY dalal's corruption couldn't be shifted at them to have no. 1 corrupted country's tag. Acquiring muscles in BNP's term, those commies became so shameless-partisan that they even started to misinterpret globally accepted norms of matter. The following article just shows how low they went by now...

2. "God and general's powers are synonymous", is a prevalent saying in western military-industrial complex but that isn't understood by naive BNP+JI's top brasses. Even the sellout story of Mir Jafar Ali Khan and consequently 190 yrs. of enslavement is like A, B,Cs in political hemisphere weren't grasp; repetition of similar mistake reminds me Siraj's saying with the tune of melancholy, " Bengali Daat Thakte Daater Marjada Bujena". And the follow up apathy of the destruction of a vibrant, prosperous, multi-party's democratic entity in the span of 9 yrs. that has taken 31 (1975-06) yrs. to build is profound, cause speechlessness.

By today, hope of 'Asche, Asche' has turned out to be dismay of 'Nai, Nai'. Is it the type of destiny that 1 crore of exasperate BDians have imagined for or it's their irony of the fate? Whatever it is, clear finger prints of traitors are all over to have our 'Sonar Bangla' to be like this. But the land of She-Re-Bangla, Shah Jalal, Khan Jahan Ali can't be handed over to godless commie bastards, who have sworn to make it adulterated, bastardous with draconian tax, Nari nities etc... And unlike 71, real reasons for war exist just now;
Ekhon Jouban Jaar, Jhudday Jabar Somoy Taar" is prevailing thus let's pray, dear compatriots before the war cry,...

Kandari E Tarir Paka Maji Malla,
Dari Mukhe Sari Gaan
La Sharik Allah"
