New Delhi: Army Chief Gen VK Singh on Thursday termed the damaging of a wall by Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh in July this year as 'childish' and said if there is a boundary skirmish, there will be "enough noise and bloodshed" for the whole world to know about it.
The Army Chief pointed out that though relations with China are good, the pending border disputes between the two countries mandated that India be prepared for "any problem" on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and necessary steps have been taken already.
"We consider it a childish act. It is like a child coming to some other child whom he doesn't like and takes away his toy and says hey I have scored brownie points,"
Gen Singh said while addressing his annual press conference here.
"We don't consider it as a skirmish or strife," the Army Chief said adding that the day such a skirmish takes place, the whole world will know.
"When something happened in Nathu La, everybody came to know. If something is to happen, there will be enough noise, there will enough bloodshed and that is how everybody will come to know," he said.
The 200-metre long wall was constructed by Indian Army for protection against the icy winds during the patrol duties.
Commenting on the situation on Line of Actual Control (LAC), Gen Singh said there were "perceptional differences" between the two countries and transgressions do take place by the Chinese which are sometimes exaggerated.
"We have good relations with China but because we have a border dispute with China, it is imperative that we from our side be ready for any problem and are prepared for meeting the challenges," he said.
