Dalit woman labourer gang-raped in Gwalior district

BHOPAL: Two farm owners barged into a house of a dalit woman and allegedly gang-raped her at Shekhpura village in Gwalior district. The survivor was alone in the house at the time of incident, which took place on Friday night as her husband had gone to his parent's house after the two had argument over some issue.

Taking advantage of situation, accused Ghamandi Baghel and Tulsi Gurjar, also residents of Shekhpura, gang-raped her, police said on basis of statement of the survivor.

The survivor and her husband work as farm labourers, tending agriculture field of accused, police said.

About 70% indians live in rural areas...which makes even harder to reveal real number of cases. Last year, i went to india and lived in village. heard of 2 incidents in a month thru friends talks which would count as rape in US. Also you know how common is eve-teasing in india...no one even reports that. That's sexual harassment.

you are again referring to reported cases...(I am not talking about what goes in trial, lets just put that aside for now. India track record of getting justice is laughble). I am talking about unreported cases from eve-teasing to all the way to rape. Those numbers are way too high in india. Bottom line is this: The life of woman is much better/safer in western world than south asians nation particularly and there is no argument against that.
