Bengaluru: Some Dalit organisations have organized a beef eating programme in Bengaluru on Thursday. They have invited noted playwright and actor Girish Karnad to attend the function and eat beef in protest against the ban on beef eating by Maharashtra government. According to them Karnad has agreed to attend the function and eat beef.

They have also invited another famous Kannada theatre personality Dr K Marulasiddappa to the protest. The protest has been organized outside Town Hall in the centre of Bengaluru. The organizers claim that beef ban is an attack on the diverse food culture of India and the BJP government at the Centre is forcing its ideas on the public. Organisers want to send memoranda to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP has opposed the function calling it a deliberate insult to Hindu beliefs by people like Karnad.
