Although the word 'Dajjal' - which comes from the Arabic word meaning 'to deceive', 'to cheat', 'to smear with tar' - does not appear in the Qur'an, the Dajjal is described in considerable detail in all major collections of Hadith, including the two well-known Sahih collections of Imam al-Bukhari and ImamAl-Mishkat Al-Masabih, The Gardens of the Righteous, and Al-Muwatta' of Imam Malik: There are three aspects of the Dajjal. There is Dajjal the individual. There is Dajjal as a worldwide social and cultural phenomenon. There is Dajjal as an unseen force. (According to scholarly opinions, the latter two aspects will be established before Dajjal the individual will appear. That is, he will appear when the support system he needs is in place throughout the world either directly or indirectly).

Dajjal the individual will be the epitome of the kafir system, the ultimate kafir, and therefore inevitably to be chosen as the leader of that system, when he appears. The letters KFR are the basic root letters of the Arabic word Kufr, or Kafir. Kufr is to cover up and to reject. The kafir is the one who covers up the true nature of existence - and who rejects the messengers who are sent by Allah to show people how to live in harmony with what is within in them and with what is without them, and to worship and have knowledge of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad said that kufr is one system. The Kufr system is Dajjal. The three aspects of Dajjal are in fact interlinked and indivisible.

Dajjal is also described in the Hadith as having many eyes on both sides, and travelling about the world in large hops. Among other descriptions of the Dajjal in the Hadith collections we find the following: Dajjal can be heard all over the world at the same time. Dajjal will talk of the Fire (Jahannam), and make it seem like the Garden (Jannah). Dajjal [the Sick Man of Humanity] will talk of the Garden, and make it seem like the Fire. [Two examples of these relate to matters of justice and peace. He will proclaim justice but he will pursue injustice, and he will proclaim peace but he will pursue the opposite of peace and every proclaimation by him of the so-called peace will be a deterioration of whatever is left of peace. That is, he will do exactly opposite of what he proclaims].

Among other possibilities mentioned elsewhere, it may well be that Dajjal as the unseen force is none other than a horde of Kafir Jinn, as opposed to being beings of some other kind. It is not known from which world they come. It is known that there are many worlds. Allah is described in the Qur'an, in Surat 'al-Fatiha, as 'Lord of the Worlds.' Ibn al-'Arabi visited some of these world in vision, and describes these experiences in his book The Mekkan Revelations. He names vast cities possessing technologies far superior to the ones of which some people on this earth boast today.
It is not known for certain exactly when Dajjal the individual is going to appear. It is not known for certain exactly when the Mahdi, the rightly guided leader of the Muslims, who walks in the foot-steps of the Prophet Muhammad, may the blessings and peace of Allah be on him, is going to appear...

To conclude, Dajjal the individual [the Sick Man of Humanity] will be the final embodiment of all that denotes the way of kufr. The Mahdi will be the final human embodiment of all that it is possible to follow in the way of Islam - for only the Prophet Muhammad was in a position to be all of the Qu'ran walking, may the blessings and peace of Allah be on him. When these two opposites meet, everyone will have a choice - and when Jesus has come again, and the final conflict has been resolved, then the choice will be even clearer. All this, however, lies in the future, and in the meantime every-one has a choice, the same choice, between iman and kufr.

It is not possible to defer making your choice between the two alternatives until a later date, since once you know that you have a choice, it must be made. Right now the choice is yours. The Qur'an is crystal clear as to what will happen when the opposites meet: Allah gives victory to the ones who trust in Allah, over the ones who reject Allah. The Qur'an is crystal clear as to what will happen to you after your death. If you trusted in Allah and followed the way of His Prophet Muhammad, then you will be for the Garden. If you rejected Allah and refused to follow the way of His Prophet Muhammad, then you will be for the Fire. For ever. Right now the choice is yours.

Once you know about the way of Muhammad, the living life transaction of Islam, no other life transaction is acceptable to Allah. Surely the life transaction with Allah is Islam. Right now the choice is yours.

I will make this case very clear for the people!

Although, Dajjal is not mentioned in Holy Quran but one big sign that will happen before the arrival of this Satanic person is mentioned in Holy Quran.

And this sign is the re-apperance (re-creation) of Jewish state for the second time in the world and this state has already emerged after WW-II and is now called "Israel".

Few more points (signs) to note:

- USA (the Sole-Superpower state) has symbiotic relationship with Israel.

- People all over the world in modern times are easily corruptable (HINT: Propaganda and Conspiracy)

- Terrorism is now associated with muslims, which hurts the cause of true muslims as well.

- The spread of Atheism and falsehoodness. Man made theories are given top priority and overshadow the words of true God.

- The Great War for dominance in Middle East already began in early 1990's and continues under the banner of "War on Terror" in 21st century. The point is that Tyrants and Romans will dominate the Middle East.

- The intensity of Natural disasters will increase.

- Muslims will be disunited.

So, these things show us that the current events in this modern world will soon lead us to the age of Satanism (age of falsehoodness) that will clearly be favourable to Dajjal when he arrives.

And the period of Dajjal will be worst for those people who will try to seek the truth.

Who is the evil Dajjal (the "anti-Christ")?

Note: Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wassallam) has exhorted the regular recital of Suratul Kahf which will most certainly save one from the Evils of Dajjal.
Hadhrat Imraan bin Husain (R.A.) relates that, "I heard Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) saying: "Since the birth of Adam (A.S.) till the advent of Qiyamah there is no fitnah (evil, test) much greater that of Dajjal."
Hadhrat Huzaifah (R.A.) says, Dajjal will be blind in his left eye. He will have very thick hair on his body and he will also have his own type of Jannat (Heaven) and Jahannam (Hell) with him: Although his Jannat will appear as Jannat, in reality it will be Jahannam and likewise though his Jahannam will appear to be Jahannam, in reality it will be Jannat.
(Hadith: Muslim)
Imraan bin Husain (R.A.) says Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "Those who hear about Dajjal should stay far from him. By Allah! A person will approach him thinking him to be a Believer, but on seeing his amazing feats he will become his follower."
Ubadah bin Saamit (R.A.) once said, "I have explained Dajjal to you but I fear that you might not have understood. Maseeh Dajjal will be short, and his legs will be crooked. The hair on his head will be extremely twisted. He will have one eye (with which he can see, and this is the protruding eye about which other ahadeeth inform us) while his other eye will be totally flat. It will neither be deep (in its socket) nor protruding.
If you still have any doubt regarding him then remember that your Sustainer (Rabb) is not one-eyed. (Because Dajjal will eventually claim to be Allah). In a lengthy Hadith narrated by Abu Saeed (R.A.), Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) is reported to have said: "Dajjal will come but it will be prohibited and impossible for him to enter Madina. He will set up camp in a barren land outside Madina. One person who will be the best of persons will confront him by saying: "I bear witness that you are the very Dajjal about whom Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has informed us."
Dajjal will say to his followers, "If I kill this person and then revive him, you people will still doubt me?"
They will reply, "No."
He will then kill this person, (according to another narration he will split this person in two) and thereafter revive him. This person will say, "I am totally convinced more than ever before that you definitely are Dajjal."
Dajjal will attempt to kill this person again but his efforts will now be in vain.
(According to a hadith, after this incident, Dajjal will not be able to harm anyone.)
Hadhrat Anas (R.A.) says that Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: "Dajjal will come and finally reach the outskirts of Madina. There will be three tremors. At that time, all the disbelievers and hypocrites will flee (from Madina).
In this way Madina Munawwarah will be purified of all the evil hypocrites.
Hadhrat Asma bint Yazeed (R.A.) narrates that Rasulullah (Salallahu Alayhi Wasallam) once came to my house and there he spoke about Dajjal. He said that before the emergence of Dajjal there will be three spells of drought. In one year the skies will withold one third of its rains, causing the earth to withold one third of its produce. In the second year the skies will withold two thirds of its rains, causing the earth to withold two thirds of its produce. In the third year, the skies will withold all its water and there will be no crops that year. All animals, be they hooved or toothed, will die as a result. The greatest evil of Dajjall will be to approach anyone and ask him: "If I bring your camel back to life, will you then believe that I am your Rabb?"
This person will reply, "Most certainly."
Thereafter Shaytaan (from the many Shayateen who will always accompany Dajjal) will appear before this person in the form of his camel with a fat hump and fully laden udders.
Likewise Dajjal will appear before another person whose father and brother have long passed away and ask him, "If I bring your father and brother back to life will you believe that I am your Rabb?"
This person will reply, "Why not?"
Shaytaan will once again take on the appearance of his brother and father...
(Ahmad)
Hadhrat Mughira ibn Shu'ba (R.A.) says that, "No one asked Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wassallam) about Dajjal as much as myself. Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wassallam) said to me, "How can he possibly harm you?"
I said: "People are saying that he will have with him a mountain of bread (provisions) and a river of water."
Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wassallam) said: "In the sight of Allah he is much more disgraced than that. (i.e. Allah knows full well that in reality Dajjal has nothing with him, and all that which appears to be with him is but deception). (Bukhari and Muslim).
Other Ahadeeth regarding Dajjal inform us that:
He will emerge between Shaam and Iraq, and his emergence will become known when he is in Isfahaan at a place called Yahudea.
The Yahudis (Jews) of Isfahaan will be his main followers.
Apart from having mainly Yahudi followers, he will have a great number of women followers as well.
He will have with him fire and water, but in reality the fire will be cold water while that what appears to be cold water will in reality be a blazing fire.
Those who obey him will enter "his Jannat" while those who disobey him will enter "his Jahannam."
There will be a thick fingernail-like object in his left eye.
The letters "Kaa" "Faa" "Raa" will appear on his forehead and will be deciphered by all Mu'mineen regardless of them being literate or not.
He will have a wheatish complexion.
He will travel at great speeds and his means of conveyance will be a gigantic mule. It is said that he will play beautiful music which will attract the music lovers.
Dajjal will lay claim to prophethood.
He will then lay claim to Divinity.
He will perform unusual feats.
He will travel the entire world. He will send down rains upon those who believe in him, which in turn will cause good crops to grow, trees to bear fruit and cattle to grow fat.
He will cause drought to those who disbelieve in him, resulting in starvation and hardship for them.
During those trying times the Mu'mineen will satiate their hunger through the recitation of Subhanallah and La'ilaha Ilallahu.
The hidden treasures will spill forth at his command. He will stay on this Earth for a period of forty days; the length of the first day will be one year, the second day will be equal to one month, the third day will be equal to a week and the remaining days will be normal.
He will be unable to enter Makkah because the Malaikah will be guarding the Holy City and nor will he be able to enter Madina because there will be Malaikah guarding each of the seven entrances to Madina; From Madina he will proceed towards Shaam where Imaam Mahdi will be stationed.
Finally Isa (A.S.) will descend from the heavens and pursue him and eventually kill him at present day Lydda (Baad Lud).

sorry for raking up such an old thread.. but Quran is revelation of God not Hadiths am I right? Hadiths are man-made... so Dajjal is mentioned in Hadiths and not Quran..

dajjal is mentioned in hadith, but so are the methods and units of prayer, fasting, hajj, zakat. a hadith is statement of action of the Prophet that have been preserved in writing. May i also ask why you take the name malang?

Some of the hadiths were compiled decades after Prophet expired..

I have one more query if you don't mind answering.. Quran is God's revelations, but Prophet's actions, commentaries etc. why do they have a divine sanction?

You may argue that Prophet was an enlightened being, fine he being an enlightened being sent by God, all his sins were pardoned but a Muslim who has not achieved enlightenment how can he hope to have his sins pardoned by doing what the prophet did?

For example in Sikhism though the Sikh Gurus were avid hunters yet hunting is forbidden in Sikhism, even in Hinduism it is said that one must not do what Krishna did.. etc.

May i also ask why you take the name malang?

I thought it apt for my state of being..

the Quran is the word of Allah most high and the holy prophet peace be upon him transitted the quran. the holy prophet peace be upon him enacted the Quran. his action peace be upon him, is known as the sunnah and his sayings are termed hadith. these sayings were memorised and transmitted and recorded. the relationship of these can be seen clearly in sura najm,
An-Najm
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). (1) Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. (2) Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. (3) It is only a Revelation revealed. (4) He has been taught (this Qur'ân) by one mighty in power [Jibril (Gabriel)].

any person to receives Allahs pardon must believe in him only and submit to him with guidance sent by him. try his best and Allah is most gracious most merciful.

Hadith is an account of how the Holy Prophet did things. Quran is the direct word of God. Now as far as I am concerned they both are the same. The Holy Prophet did things the way it was written in the Quran and thus it is directly comming from the Quran. If you ask a religious scholar they will say both are the same, the only different one is God's word and one is the Prophets ways, but Gods words have more weight, but again at the same time the Holy Prophet did what God told him to do.
