Daersan YKTB Shortlisted in Qatari Tender

The Damen OPV950 and Dearsan YTKB are shortlisted in the tender for 6 patrol boats for Qatar. Damen looks to have more chance since she has agreed with the Qatari shipyard Nakilat.

After the patrol boat project Qatar plans to acquire 4 corvettes, where Damen will enter the tender with her Sigma design, maybe we'll see the Milgem competing against Sigma there.

I hope our company wins but French have great influence on Arab defence projects... And Bordo Do you know if Dearsan YTKB have any stealth fetures? Ships nose looks normal but its upper body looks like stealth design... Any idea about that?

Well yes its made with the same material that the Ada-Class Corvette was built off. Its not built for being fully stealth but rumors say that when you look on the radar and try to find an Ada-Class and YKTB Boat, You will get the same signiture as a small fishing boat.

I believe, OPV 950 have some recreational facilities aboard. I wont be surprised if arabs choose it as they value their relaxation so much

As for YTKB it was originally designed as a fully stealth ship but it wasn't manufactured accordingly. I believe they didnt see it necessary for a patrol boat to be that magnificent

I guess they saw no reason to spend millons of dollars more for patrol boat which is quite normal But I have to expect that would be legen---wait for it---dary

its a patrol boat i.e it is for costal defence (ASW), stealth is not a concern
