Dabangg song lifted from Pakistani Film

Yaar the 90s video of Umar Sharif has already been posted, obviously that is the original.

" Dabangg" owes much of its buzz to the latest national rage, "Munni Badnaam Hui".

The source of this chartbuster seems to be a bawdy, folksy Bhojpuri number, "Launda Badnaam Hua Naseeban Tere Liye", sung by Rani Bala in an album titled, "Balma Bada Bavaali". "Munni" is closer to the original in terms of tune and chorus, though it has been splashed with modern oomph. Director Abhinav Kashyap has himself said that the song owes its genesis to his childhood memories of the song from UP, and they improvised on it to produce today's superhit number.

Incidentally, the same lyrics were used by Bappi Lahiri in an altered version in "Rock Dancer", for the song, "Launda Badnaam Hua Laundiya Tere Liye". Being inspired by a western tune is hardly a sin today, but perhaps to avoid a western overload, filmmakers venture into the far corners of the country to find their eureka moment in a masaledaar, folksy melody.

Music directors synthesize the locally popular song, add a fast tempo and whoa! A simple and otherwise restricted-to-a-few-discerning-listeners track is transformed into an ultra-catchy dance number.

No hear me out, I'm saying the same thing. It's a name for toddlers, how can you associate "badnami" with toddlers???

The same way you (I doubt) can use the word "baby" in English.

Has nothing to do with toddler.

10 pages of crap for a Pakistani song THAT WAS COPIED from a Bhojpuri song. The Bhojpuri song is the inspiration, not the Pakistani song. What an irony here. Even if it was copied from a Pakistani song, it's no big deal. Millions of people enjoyed the song, thats whats matters. End of discussion.

Besides, Pakistani producers copy more from India/bollywood than I can imagine. Piracy of bollywood content in Pakistan costs bollywood huge amounts of losses in revenue and nobody complains about it. Deny it as much as you want, we all know how popular bollywood is.

In the same way that:

ISHQ can be Kameena, Kambakht etc.

DIL can be PAAGAL, BACCHA, DEEWAANA etc.

It is called the imagination of a poet/writer/lyricist.

Looks like these songs don't get popular until it has an Indian stamp on them :coffee:

just to let u know that godfather series won 9 oscars with 21 nominations!

Briefly speaking, the song "Munni Badnaam hui" is copy of a pakistani song made in 1992 and was filmed on Umar Sharif, the song title was "Larka badnam hua haseena tere liye..."

Bollywood bs kar do bs... :D
