Very nice rifle- I hole either this or the ARX-160 wins the Indian Army Foreign rifle tender later this year.

I wonder why India isn't able to produce and field a decent assault rifle of its own.

I thought ARX-160,already had won the contract.

HAHAHAHA Have you seen the production standards of the OFB unit in-charge of small arms, nope not happening in the near future..if we are to field an assault rifle which the IA will truly embrace then Ak clones and Insas won't cut it...not after they've gotten a taste of M-4s and T-21s.

That's why the multi caliber weapon that was showcased a year or two back will probably have pre-fabbed parts from private companies..otherwise the IA will just walk away.

But mate do you really think that at present political situation between india and italy especially after that fishermen case, Is there any chance of ARX winning in IA tender. but i love arx 60, a top class multi caliber assault rifle, but after seeing recent incidents between india and italy the scope of ARX and C 27 is less. And @sancho also mentioned the same about C 27 yesterday dude.

The Italians gave in so I don't see why there'd be any particular repercussions on the defence front concerning Italy now. One of be reasons the Italians backed down was because they feared losing defence contracts from India.

I think the ARX-160 bid, and all other Italian defence bids, are unlikely to be affected by the recent Marine case fiasco.

The competition is coming to a close and no winner has been announced just yet.

These rifles are an interim measure for certain select units notably; RR, Ghataks and members of airborne brigades (excluding PARA (Airborne and SF) so airborne infantry, combat engineers, signals, arty, medics etc

The order for foreign ARs and CQB weapons will not increase from 150,000 and 70,000 respectively.

For the rest of the 1 million man army the IA is betting on the DRDO's multi-cal rifle that is being developed as part of the wider F-INSAS effort.

If the DRDO Multi-cal weapon should be found lacking then the IA will simply go for more foreign ARs as the rifle will come with full ToT.

Slovakia looks to buy Czech CZ 805 BREN assault rifles

The Slovak Ministry of Defence (MoD) has indicated it would like to procure new assault rifles, submachine guns, and semi-automatic pistols from Czech small arms maker Ceska Zbrojovka Uhersky Brod to equip front-line units of the Slovak army in light of the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.

"Given the current situation [in Ukraine], it is important for the Slovak Army to share similar capabilities with neighbouring armies. For this reason we are seriously considering the adoption of firearms that are already in service with our partners," read a Slovak MoD statement.

The Slovak MoD is seeking to replace the standard issue 1960s-era vz.58 assault rifle chambered in 7.62x39 mm with the new CZ 805 BREN chambered in 5.56x45 mm, recently adopted by the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR).

"One reason [for the procurement] is that we would like to be compatible [with other NATO-member armies], and secondly because we consider the rifle to be a good one," said Lieutenant General Milan Maxim, chief of general staff of the Slovak Army, at a joint press conference in Prague on 29 May with his Czech counter-part Lieutenant General Petr Pavel.

The Slovak MoD expects to sign a memorandum with the Czech MoD within days that would allow the former to procure new small arms jointly with the latter and, therefore, circumvent the need to hold a public tender. The Slovak MoD could procure new rifles that are currently in production and destined for the ACR.

Slovakia has also expressed interest in procuring new Skorpion EVO submachine guns and CZ 75 semi-automatic pistols, both of which are chambered in 9x19 mm.
