Cursed Boat Heading For India

. . . .
$1,78,000 per day :O

Boy, defence is definitely expensive, this figure alone proves what all development could have happened with this useless spending.

Defence by it's very nature is expensive. Take these examples:

Virginia Class SSN: Total cost - >$2 billion. Expected life - 30 years, acquisition cost per day ($182,648)
Seawolf class SSN: Total cost - ~$3 billion. Expected life - 35 years, acquisition cost per day ($273,972)

Why stop at submarines

Nimitz class carrier: Total cost - ~ $ 6.5 billion. Expected life - 40 years, acquisition cost per day ($445,205)

Defence is expensive and the reason for the mighty Soviet Union to go bankrupt in the 80's. At the same time, it is of utmost importance in today's turbulent environment! Russia is minting as much money as possible for technology which is beyond our scientific ability to develop on our own. At the same time, the prices above should demonstrate that India has been able to get a decent deal. Brasil has signed for 4 scorpene submarines for almost $10 billion :woot:!!! Most of the money will infact go towards nuclear propulsion technology for Brasil :)! Thus the cost has to be looked at from the point of view of requirement!

Dont worry guys... Those who died In sea trials are our closest allys, If its true, then those sailors will help us in all the ways, dead or Alive they are our allies....

Wat does allies have to do with this story?:what:

. .
If the sub is cursed, it should be either becoz of some superstitious beliefs..... So Why cant I believe that souls of our allies are still there in that sub??? as simple as that....

Oh ic good point.. :D

There is some rumor in Russian forums that Russia will be giving blue print of Akula so that India will make them in future.

As, we don't have bigger nuke subs.

Traditionally, when a new ship losses lots of people during sea trials, it is regarded as "cursed" and unlucky. Sailors can be a superstitious, especially when there are dead bodies involved. It's not known if India will have any problems with this.

Don't know about the "cursed" part but there is a going to be a heck a lot of "cursing" in our immediate neighborhood when this baby comes to India.:azn:

It is almost certain to be also regarded as "unlucky", just not by us.

.
No problems... Break 2 coconuts on the hull and we are all set.

+10.

And add a swastika sign and every 'curse' will be gone. That is really good news for India. After acquiring Akula-II, India will have the most advanced submarine among Asian countries. :yahoo:
