Tehsin Akthar, the man who is suspected to be the current chief of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen, has been detained by a special team of Delhi police from near the India-Nepal border in Bihar.
Akhtar is suspected to be the mastermind of the Patna blasts in October 2013.
Tehsin's arrest comes close on the heels of the arrest of Waqas Ahmed, a Pakistan-based IM operative who was among the terrorists who planned and carried out the 13/7 serial blasts in Mumbai.

Suspected Indian Mujahideen chief Tehsin Akthar arrested


A special team of Delhi police has arrested Tehsin Akthar, suspected to be the current chief of terror outfit Indian Mujahideen, from Samastipur near the India-Nepal border in Bihar today. Akhtar is also believed to be mastermind behind the Patna blasts in 2013. The police supposedly were hot on heels of Akhtar ever since they had been informed of his moves by the Intelligence Bureau.

According to sources, Tehsin became the chief of the IM after Yasin Bhatkal was arrested in August 2013.

Tehsin, whose first major operation was the Patna blasts, reportedly enjoyed close links with a leader of the Janata Dal – United in Bihar. This connection also helped him set up a terror module in the state.

The serial blasts in Patna — at the site of Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally hours before the event — was the first major terror operation planned by Tehsin.

Tehsin, along with a group of amateur operatives, was initially planning to assassinate Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at the latter’s hotel in Patna. However, considering the tight security, Tehsin had to fall back on Plan B that was to attack the rally venue..

Earlier today, Barkat Ali, an asserted assistant of suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist Mohd Sakib Ansari, was captured in Jodhpur.

Ali had figured out how to give the police the slip on Sunday and a few police groups had swung vigorously to get him.

A police official said that they had accepted data about his landing in home early today, emulating which the police cordoned off his house and captured him.

Ali had purportedly provided explosives and electronic exploding apparatuses to Sakib, who was proficient in making bombs and carrying out blasts by top Indian Mujahideen terrorist Zia Ur Rehman assumed name Waqas who is a Pakistani national needed in association with a few bombings.

Confiscation of handcrafted maps of circuit outlines and a journal demonstrating the strategy of making shells was a confirmation to their plans, police said.

The examination by the Jodhpur Police so far has uncovered that they were on the edge of propelling serial impact in Jodhpur and Waqas was booked to land in Jodhpur to give the last touch to their arrangement.
