RBI is trying to keep fall as slow as possible to avoid sudden shock, it can even stop or strengthen rupee if it wants but the cost of that will be very high hence not going to that extent.

Whatever fancy terms you use, the bottom line is RBI is intervening to control free-fall which is logical thing to do, not something unusual - central banks of every country intervene when needed to avoid chaos. But you should thank God that you don't have some idiot like Ishaq Dar at charge of affairs who burnt all our reserves just for d!ck measuring contest.
