Cupping predates Islam and has been practiced by different cultures for a very long time, including persians, chinese and arabs. It was also practiced by Prophet and his companions, that is why some claim its an islamic practice. It was adopted into Islam.
You havent heard it in Pakistan because it was never common in Subcontinent and those who practice it in Pakistan does so by religious reference.
