CRPF jawans easy prey like broiler chicken: Maoists
Soumittra S Bose, TNN, Jul 1, 2010
NAGPUR: Tuesday's Maoist ambush in Narayanpur, Chhattisgarh, in which 27 CRPF personnel were killed, is yet another example of how the jawans are proving to be sitting ducks to the rebels who describe them 'broiler murga'. The mocking nomenclature is inspired by farm chicken that are transported in single vans in large numbers.

The CRPF jawans, who always venture out in groups for patrolling in the forests, are victims not just of guerrilla warfare, but also psychological warfare. The Naxals boasts of plans to eliminate entire patrolling CRPF squads. "Inko jhund mein pakdo, aur jhund me maro, (catch them in bunch and kill them all)," is what they tell their cadre.

On Wednesday, four more CRPF jawans were injured after a pressure bomb went off on the road between Cherpal and Gangaluru in Bijapur. Tuesday's attack in Narayanpur was no different from the one in Chintalnar in Dantewada or Pedakodepal in Bijapur, both in May. The entire squad — ambushed within 3km from the Dhaudai base camp — comprised around 69 jawans and their officers. The party was divided in two groups. While one had moved ahead, the other was following close behind and they were the ones to be ambushed.

The Naxals had set up a trap on the road. In their usual style, they encircled jawans and rained bullets from all sides, leaving security personnel with no room to escape. Sources said in less than an hour, the resistance of CRPF personnel was over. The party, which had advanced, was nowhere to conduct rescue. As in Chintalnar, where 76 jawans died, the entire party was rendered helpless when Naxals opened fire on them.

"The CRPF had been effective in tackling law and order situation in Kashmir. Countering the Naxals and their ploys are a different ball game all together," said a senior Chhattisgarh cop.

What a name...
This is how things go....they keep slowly violent over a period of time until some invisible line is crossed. THEN when the government retaliates it's usually with unbelievably excessive force, alienating people. This is always a vicious circle.

Irresponsible ToI again. Why promote a derogatory slur the enemy has given you?

Calling Indian army chicken, or broiler chicken, is something the enemy would do. But whats the point in promoting this label?

.
The maoists have come too far....what bothers me is,the innocent, mostly uneducated villagers including small children and women who joined the maoists for a purpose...an aim of getting a solution for the so called opression of the babus and the issue of the land grabbing, have unknowingly trusted some rogues who have taken this movemnet into a fully violent and bloody battle.

Now since these attacks have taken place and more to come (acording to these maoists)..finally when the Govt will resort to deploying army and choppers to kill these men..hunderds of these innocents villagers..women and children will be the sufferers...and then our human rights activists will spare no effort to blame the Govt.

They are just reporting what they call them... Maoists have a high hand right now. If they don't report it India might suffer more casualties. By this report India might realize the real danger and do something to quell it.

Using chopper might not be a very successful technique I think.

Aerial route blocked? Maoists are trained to blunt air strikes

may be yes...,but the context ws not to specifically highlight the use of choppers but any means to eradicate them completely..about using choppers...even if they have the technique..they do not have the sophisticated weapons to directly target it...their strategies still lies on dropping bullets on engines and bombingthe helipads(your link says)...if there is any problem..then there is only one..and that is killing of the villagers in the area..which they will use as human shield and which our Govt does not want and the reason why they are not pressing into action...several army attack choppers used for conventional wars when will hover around on their head and the army pushing on the ground..that should b the end...but as I said...the problem is not killing them but killing thm and saving the innocents at the same time.

CRPF dude..not the Army.

I dont think this Naxal menace is going to end in the near future judging by the way things are going.

We all say our Army will get involved and everything will be over in an instant is not true. The Army may take some time to get used to the things..set reliable intelligence and finally eradicate the menace.Remember since 20 years the Kashmir problem hasn't ended..so it wont be a piece of cake.Naxals are normal villagers..they can easily get into the crowd after attacking you..so its very difficult.

I dont think we should deploy the the Army anytime. The para military has to fight the menace as it would put the Army under a lot of pressure.Three sectors would be asking too much from the army. The Army should train the Para military and Police as soon as possible. Some schools have been set up on the line of CIJWS and i think a few more are needed to speed up the training process.

Finally, development of the remote and rural areas by the construction of roads, schools and infrastructure would be a good option.Taking the villages in our side by some goodwill jesture or doing some propoganda against the naxals wont hurt our cause.

yea yea, that could be true.. i mean crpf jawans might be rounded in all sides then it would be easy to kill them like chicken.

these maoists should understand that they can be crshed like ants if iaf/army join the operations. these stupids will then run like "headless chickens"

Fighting a guerrilla war is not a big thing.. these people hide and shoot and call others a chicken .. Let them come infront of 4000 MBT and call these army jawans a chickent.. by that time they do that they will be in history

Guerrilla warfare is the most difficult one to defeat completly even highly trained US/NATO and Pak armies are facing the most difficult situation to do so

Naxals slit CRPF men's throats, smashed heads
PTI, Jul 1, 2010, 02.54pm IST

RAIPUR: The brutal face of Naxals who killed 27 CRPF personnel in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh came out when they slit open throats and smashed the heads of some of the security men.

According to the preliminary post-mortem reports the jawans were brutally killed by the Maoists and around three to four bullet wounds were found on all the 27 CRPF personnel bodies.

"The Naxalites shot dead the CRPF personnel from a distance and later, they slit open the throats of three and smashed heads of two other jawans," a top police official said.

The bodies of the CRPF personnel were airlifted from the thick forests of Dhodawyee to the state capital's Dr B R Ambedkar hospital for conducting post-mortem.

While the CRPF personnel foiled the Maoists move of attempting to loot the armory, 27 jawans were killed, he said, adding "police believe that around 15 Naxalites were killed in the cross-firing".

A large number of heavily-armed Maoists, perched on a hilltop, had opened fire with automatic weapons on a 63-member security contingent which was returning on foot from road opening duty yesterday.

The dead included a CRPF Assistant Commandant Jatin Gulati.

Indian army does not fight the Naxalites...the CRPF is a police force.
