That's a lot of greenbacks - $75 billion investment by the UAE for building Indian infrastructure, railways, pipelines, motorways etc! According to sources, this is just the beginning! There's more to come!
Dubai: The Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates has promised an investment of Rs. 4.5 lakh crore in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a packed cricket stadium in Dubai, that greeted the announcement with loud cheers.
"If there is no trust, no one will invest Rs. 10 in you. It is the respect that India has earned for itself that it is being accepted world-wide," the Prime Minister said, repeatedly thanking his hosts for their hospitality and affection.
"The love I am showered with here, the respect... this is not for one individual. This is for 1.25 billion Indians, for India is a changing place in the world," PM Modi said.
He said though an Indian Prime Minster was visiting UAE after 34 years, "his Highness the crown prince and in Dubai, his Highness did not complain, they only showered me with love. I will never be able to forget it."
He exhorted the crowd to acknowledge the gift of land for a grand temple in Abu Dhabi by the crown prince with a hearty round of applause.
The Dubai crowd did not disappoint him. Thousands of people gave the Crown Prince a standing ovation, raising their hands over their heads as they clapped and cheered.
There was no lack of cheering tonight. The 50,000-strong crowd at the Dubai stadium greeted every comment that the PM made with chants of "Modi, Modi," holding up posters that read "I love you Modi."
