Creation of Hazara Province

Strongly disagree with making provinces on ethnic lines. We should instead make N S E W Punjab provinces or provinces on city bases. On ethnic lines you are diving Pakistan and this could have its consequences in the future. Why not make 20 provinces on city bases and each province can elect its own governor.

I agree that city basis is actually best. The goal should provinces that build up the nation not divide it along ethnic/linguistic/current political party control lines. the best setup that makes each new province a city with rural area surrounding it. It will maximize the ability of the nation to provide services from a relatively closer city, and each city-province will be made to specialize and build up on its own strengths. German history has the best example of how this was done, and how each region specializes and trade with each other, and it allowed Germany to have such a robust small and medium enterprises over the centuries that are world class with world class educated and trained workers.

At present, Hazara is a region in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, consisting of seven districts: Abbottabad, Battagram, Haripur, Mansehra, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Torghar.

I think this step reflects an increasing realization among Pakistanis that there is a need to divide the existing provinces into smaller, more manageable provinces.

Should we expect more announcements about more new provinces?

Our leadership should be thinking like. The city idea is simple because we already have cities. Karachi province, Gwadar province, Islamabad can still be classified as special territory, Lahore province, Faisalabad province. We dont really need to change anything physically, just for administration purpose use it.

If we look at our cities we already have different regions ie LA1 LA2 LA3, nobody is fighting over this because they know this is for administration purposes, the same way nobody will fight over cities or divide themselves.

We can even make Punjab 1 Punjab 2 Punjab 3 or Balochistan 1 2 3 4, Sindh 1 2 3 4 5. This can also work as nobody will think of it as a division.

Government needs to use their brains and speak to Hazara and say you want more local control of your affairs and we will give you but no province on ethnics bases.

If we let Hazara province come in being then all ethnics have a right for provinces and before we know it people will discriminate each other and stop each other waters and trades.

How about Saraiki province?
Brakuwais province?
Kashmiri province?
Urdu speaking province?
Hindkowans province?
Burusho province?
Kalash province?

When will this end? Or only the powerful will get what they want and the weaker will be pushed down. Next minute people will want Jatt province? Chaudhry province? Gujjar province?

I totally agree with you Brother. As a Seraki, I am totally against a Seraki Province, because the subtext would be that it is suppose to be dominated by people that speak that language. I wouldnt want that to be the basis of how leaders are picked or how the province is governed. On day someone will come up and say I am more Seraki then you and hence I should be in charge. It’s an endless game of self Balkanization, where everyone loses.

If we stick to Multan as the capital of “Multan Province” it would focus people to build up their local districts to be up to the standards of all the other provinces. It also allows good hard working people to move up to national prominence and for bad leaders to be exposed more easily. Resource will also be shard on a population basis not any ethnic/linguistic/tribal basis.

And what is that. While the world is edging towards globalism we stick to ancient dogmas such as language based provincial naming system.
I'm not for creating a Hazara (language based) province but opposition to it while other language based provinces exist is scrupulous at best.

More provinces mean more pervez khattaks and Murad Ali shahs
Government should empower district level local government education health police should be under federal government's control
Waste management type departments under district and union council governments
The reason of this saraiki movement is capital of Punjab is in a corner of Punjab and standard punjabi is also language of that area
When you go in South West language becomes very different from the standard punjabi
And imaginery mehromion ka rona rotay Hain cholistan thal and sulaiman areas are backward because of natural reasons not due to government's negligence
Areas like Multan Muzzafargarh and agricultural areas of DG khan and Rajan pur are like any other area of the Punjab
