I honestly think we should no more be apologetic about what happened in 1971. Bangladesh today is Indian colony they know India created Mukhti Bahni who killed thousands of innocent Bangladeshis. They don't have the courage to say no to India.

Glad you brought this up. No army, even the mighty US Army, the British Army or Red Army would have succeeded. Failure was writ in the formula from 1947. It was weakness waiting to crack open like a flawed building built on poor design.

Think about this way. Many countries have 'other' territories.Now think of mother country as the planet anbd the other territories or territory as satellites. By definition always the mother country is vastly larger and the satellites have tiny % of the total population. First off, rejecting the election results was not a decision of the army, but based upon the consensus of the people of West Pakistan.

Giving the country's leadership to a person who met with Indian officials in 1966 to discuss the separation of East Pakistan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agartala_Conspiracy_Case) and wanted to enact his "six points" was effectively national suicide for Pakistan.

My only regret is that the separation of East Pakistan should have been a peaceful process, it was never a feasible option in the first place.

Hammond u Rehman report is inadequate and only discusses the problems between 70 and 72..
It doesnt talk about bengali language riots of 1952. It doesnt talk about bhashanis 'good bye pakistan' movement in 1958. It doesnt talk about agartala case of 60s.
