New Delhi: Reacting to the brutalmurderof aHindu priestin Bangladesh, celebrated authorTaslima Nasreensaid on Monday that the hardcoreIslamistsdo not wantHindu populationin the country.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the brutal beheading of a senior Hindu priest and wounding two worshippers in northern Bangladesh.

In a statement, the terrorist group said that "caliphate soldiers" carried out the attack using "light weapons".

The 45-year-old priest, identified as Jogeswar Roy, was attacked with cleavers at his home on Sunday.

"The priest was preparing for morning prayers when they pounced on him and decapitated him on the veranda of his home inside the temple," BBC quoted a government official as saying.

The Hindus comprise about 10% of the Muslim-majority country's 160 million population

Not a single response.Had this incident occurred in Pakistan instead of Bangladesh too, I'm sure there's be none.That's the difference.

However, had a Muslim waiz or a mullah met the same fate in India, there'd be a firestorm out here , with accusations flying thick & fast resulting in a lock down of the thread .

And I'm not referring only to the posters from Pakistan who think they've a solemn right & duty to comment on any news emnating from India ,especially negative news & especially on negative news about Muslims from India , as though Pak Punjabi Muslims are the sole custodians & protectors of the rights & safety of sub continental Muslims esp Muslims from India.

I'm drawing attention to all those posters from India who went on the rampage accusing the BJP / RSS camp in the wake of the Dadri lynching.Please reflect on this incident in all sobriety.

Please note that I do not wish this thread to become another platform to vent ones pet peeves & re affirm ones political & ideological allegiances though I suspect it would come to that.Which would be most unfortunate .

I wish for a sober assessment of the situation .

Sometimes , I feel that the ghosts of partition have never been laid to rest .They'd just hover around waiting , precipitating the next holocaust.

You are not understanding the situation. In BD no one knows about these assailants. And his neighbors and every other Bangladeshis condemn these attacks. So in case of Bangladesh we dont need others' sympathy. But in India's case whole lot Indian population and victim's neighbors friends colleagues are in favor of the killers. So there is a difference.

No actually under the AL Hindus have a privileged position and exert immense power. They are in every position far above their proportion of the population. At the same time they appear to engage in the most corruption and abuse of power. This is why they are resented and because they are felt not to be loyal to this country and always represent the interests of India.
