Crack down on MQM offices in Karachi; several activists held

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers arrested several activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday during targeted operations carried out in different areas of the city, DawnNews reported.

After attempts of shutting down shops in different areas by unknown miscreant on Monday evening, the Rangers carried out raids on several sector and unit offices of the party.

The Rangers raided Burn Road sector office and arrested four, that was followed by raids on Jamshed Town sector office, Pir Elahi Bux unit office, Azim Plaza unit office in Garden area and the unit office in Gizri PNT Colony.

Besides arresting several party activists, the Rangers also recovered arms during raids.

The Rangers carried out search operations in different areas of the city including Saeedabad, Baldia Town, Janjaal Goth, Surjani Town, Fareed Coloney Gadap Town during last 48 hours, said a statement issued by Rangers.

Excellent news in my opinion. Well done Rangers. The MQM, despite doing good development work in the city, have clearly been one of the divisive forces in the city, with their alleged links to criminal gangs, & their mafia style rule. Anyone who places anything before 'Pakistaniat' is inexcusable in my eyes. Everyone should be accountable the law of Pakistan equally, & no one should be above it. Hopefully, everyone in the city can start working together now against the fight against extremism/terrorism & ethnic warfare, & work towards the further development of Karachi.

I'm 23, I have a part-time job, I'm taking 2 online classes. I don't have any plans of getting married.

MQM, wants to control Karachi with an iron-fist. They justify their behavior by claiming that the heavy influx of Pashtuns are bringing in Drugs and Weapons. Their gang needs to be cleaned up, and so does the Pashtun mafia there.

Not just MQM but a couple of days ago, Sunni Tehrik's head Sarwat Aijaz Qadri's house was encircled too by the Rangers at 4 in the morning. They had to leave after finding out that Qadri wasn't there.

Action should be against criminals and that includes all MQM, PPP, ANP, JI etc etc.
