Court order authorising PEMRA to censor TV content challenged

Im just wondering how far PEMRA will go in this matter. I mean honestly if youre triggered by a tv show CHARACTER shown consuming alcohol (and you know its pepsi) then what else will you just prefer shutting down just because you think its indecent ? The thing is alcohol is forbidden in both religion and national law but its not like TV serials show the "good guys" drinking alcohol. Its the evil, morally corrupt, villanous type of characters shown drinking alcohol. This is not encouraging or promoting such acts its villanizing them.

I agree most TV shows these days have 0 substance and just there to provide mirch masala to the ladies at home. But they also tackle and portray a good amount of issues that exist in society. Forced marriages, child abuse and consumption of alcohol and drugs. These are all part of out very own society and shutting them down won't mean that they'll suddenly disappear from real life too. You cant just close your eyes to everything.

Would you spend weeks trying to justify that this ad is weakening the foundation of Islam and Pakistan?

Well, if I see it as an individual, it really doesn't affect me since I see quite a lot more skin despite my intent and effort to avoid it and now it is summer here so :astagh::astagh::astagh:... so in that perspective this dress seems to be pretty modest

But if seen from Pakistani society's perspective, I think it is inappropriateto to some extent and we should consult scholars and basic sources of the Islamic knowledge (i.e. Quran and Hadeeth) follow the proper dresscodes.

BTW, after this, the following video autoplayed and it got me attention...just check what is going on in our country...

If you want to show an abusive father who drinks how do you show that?

Being direct in sexual references in family shows even if you want to discuss them use the indirect method which our media has always used i see no problem here

Is this the only topic to show on our TV channels? This just shows the narrowness of mind or lack of creativity or formula to make money. Come up with some sound reply.

with respect to 2nd para well you don't care but majority does see a problem and in democracy majority counts not the minority I'm afraid.

They are following the official dress code

Then the official dress code must be changed to reflect the culture and values of the majority. The Quranic verses are very clear regarding the dressing of both men and women.

Pakistan is not a secular state. It is Islamic Republic of Pakistan and in public space proper Islamic dress code has to be observed.
While the women can play with other women in their separate facilities or at a different time in the same facility.

Did you even watch the video?

You dont just show good stories with good characters you also show evil characters even a child knows that

And on 2nd if it was false dramas on rape such as Udari and Chup Raho wouldnt get such high ratings :-)

Yes they do play with other women just like in the rest of the world

Did you even watch the video?
Unfortunately i watched it live :-//
He mixed things up and made issues where there were nonenone

Pakistan is a democractic country that doesnot enforce any dress code on its population and its not going to change
In Pakistan in a sports team you can be a hijabi or a non hijabi its your choice

Those who think they need to be in a certain attire can done that specific attire no one is stopping them but they have no right to tell others how they can dress

OK I think it needs to be said because this is bought up in every single issue. THE CLERICS AND ISLAMIC SCHOLARS DO NOT HAVE THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING. The sooner you realize this the sooner we actually start making some progress . You know why ?

Because if we started consulting islamic scholars in everything forget "appropriate attire" they would have female sports shut down in the country. They'd ask that the entire banking system be flipped around even though this is just not possible anymore. There would be lashings and beheadings in the streets and half the population would be sitting in their homes as baby making machines. The world is very different from what it was 1400 years ago. We can live as Muslims on an individual level or get trampled on by the world.

They have no right to tell others what they cant do they should only preach and advise thats it not force their views on others
