Couple Buys 300 Acres Of Barren Land, Converts It Into India's First Private Wildlife Sanctuary

Aah yes. Like the Parliamentary Committee member on Tobacco regulation once said, "there is no Indian survey to prove that tobacco consumption leads to cancer" If course, it was later found his constituency was the biggest bidi manufacturer .

So yeah please do believe the numbers of a report sponsored by the coffee lobby.:woot:

I did not know our forest dept officials had a vote bank to appease or our University of Agriculture etc. etc. were such Machiavellian characters unlike the white as snow Frenchies :D

From the article you have posted dense forest extend 4102 sq km and reserved forest 830 sq km. Kodagu district's total land area is 4102 sq km.

Yes coffee estates are not pure forests as in wild growth, but they are thick forest nevertheless and support a wide variety of wild life.

This is how they look generally.

Give me a break..One cannot equate coffee plantation with forest. Are there any wildlife in these coffee plantation? Are they allowed to roam free? What about carnivorous animals?
By converting a forest land into agriculture land, you are depriving the land of its natural process of replenishing. The natural flora and fauna do not grow in coffee plantation land as these are weeded out.

By stats standard, even delhi is more greener than Karnataka. we have atleast 16% to 18% of green cover.. Shall i start claiming that Delhi has forest cover? No, because not all green is forest.

I seriously not able to understand your problem in acknowledge the good work this couple has been doing.

They do not have vote banks, just a different kind of green works.

It is the tree cover with undergrowth that determines what a forest is. Coffee plantations in India have a very good tree cover and a wide variety of tree cover at that. Yes, there are wild animals in coffee plantations, all kind including carnivorous. People in coffee plantations frequently do get killed by elephants and tigers. That would not happen if they were not there, would it? These are not animal sanctuaries or national parks (that is not the definition of a forest anyway) but animals are afforded the same protection here as anywhere else causing hunting is not allowed in India. The natural flora and fauna do grow in coffee plantations and they are not weeded out. It is just that along with the natural flora and fauna, coffee is also grown. Learn about these plantations before blabbering on. There is no depriving of the land of its natural processes in these places.

No, Delhi is not greener than Karnataka because Karnataka has a 21% green cover. The whole of Karnataka is not a forest, but almost the whole of Coorg is. The tree cover in Delhi is also included in the overall tree cover of India when computing the stats, it falls within the category called other wooded areas not classified as forests.

Your lack of understanding is not my problem.

It is not my lack of understand but your stubbornness of not accepting a good work by someone. Till now you are still not able to provide any proof why so much of resistance and providing facts and figures which has no relevance to the good work. All you are doing is blabbering.

You are mere talking on technicallity but dont want to see the bigger picture out here, which is someone is doing his/her bits to help in conserving the nature. I cannot help you but pray for your binary mind to think more logical than technical.
