Oil prices will not plummet . Not in our lifetimes .
You got it. Saudis want Iran to kneel down.It doesn't take a genius to see where the Saudis are swinging.
From my calculations ,the current economic conditions only permit upto 75-80$/bbl.Too much recession/depression everywhere.Plus oil sands and tight oil prospects need this price.
Second,Russia is much more dependent on gas prices . Not so much on oil. Third, I think we will be seeing a major shift to LNG/CNG in transportation .
What Russia has to fear is if EU starts buying gas from Iran . Iranians can give us some real pain in gas markets.
Storm Warning in Iran, by Thierry Meyssan
If this report is true,With Iran in Nabucco ,that could be severe pain. Iran is a major economic power for thousands of years and I would regard them as a pushover . Arabs are fools ,Farsis are smart and innovative in their methods.
There is something wrong with this graph. According to this graph Iran should have gone bankrupt a long time ago.
Delivery of gas from Iran to EU would be a problem. The whole mess created by IS in middle-east precludes possibility of an Iran to Europe pipeline.

Iran can send gas via Azerbaijan with which it share border ,bypassing the ME

Iran's relations with Azerbaijan are horrible. Azerbaijan is openly hostile to Iran and hosts an Israeli base.
We have been under much much worse conditions back in Iran-Iraq war when our exports reached a quarter of what it is today, but even then, there was nothing serious to worry about. You got it. Saudis want Iran to kneel down.
Horrible ,yes. But compromises can be made for sake of profit.
The wish I have is that you get the difference between a wish and a fact. Saudi Arabia along with the rest of the GCC increased their oil production in spite of prices decrease. However, although this is not in GCC favor but they did it anyway for the bigger profit which is Iranian economic suffering as those wealthy gulf countries have a lot of extra cash deposited and invested worldwide. Again:Well, wish in one hand and take a shit in the other.
See which hand fills up first.
Even if ( and a big if ) Azerbaijan agrees, Iran would still require Turkey's acquisence to use BTC Pipeline, which would never come as long as Erdogan , the great sunni Khalifa, is in power in Turkey.
