What's new

countries should be buying Saab’s Gripen fighter jet

Rafale is the last fighter jet which will be procured in numbers.... Period.... After that future will be tejas, amca, used fulcrums or flankers etc.... However possibility of Super hornets only for navy and only to keep uncle Sam happy can't b ruled out....

You are just the last in a long line of Indians that are sure of this and that regarding India buying fighters. Not even Modi knows the future of the IAF fighter procurements at the moment.

Considering that the Modi government has told the IAF leadership that the Rafale is
too expensive for a MiG-21 replacement, and IAF leadership has explained why the Tejas is not good enough compared to the competition, there is no reason to have any trust in anything you say unless you can produce some credible sources.

You can’t rule out PAKFA, not yet.

In the event we procure a 5th gen, you people will be forced to reconsider options.

Our Junk made your shy girl ran away in Bahrain. It can not face male Tejas even in Air Show.

your junk was not even near border on 27 feb and your sukhois got medals for running like cowards during actual battlefield

We will never buy Gripen atleast even if Tejas is inferior to it.

Your wishes unfortunately are not considered when India are to make a decision.
It is also pointless to show your wishes, unless you can show that it is shared by decision makers.

I know my country better than you. Didn't u see Rafale won the MMRCA beating Gripen.

Yes Sukhoi 57 in limited nos will be purchased if amca project delays.... Rafales will be purchased in small small batches like 24-36 over the years... We won't purchase 100s of them in one go as its simply not affordable... But henceforth only rafales, tejas in new planes and used fulcrums or flankers or even m2k to keep the numbers is the future till amca success and if delayed 24-36 Sukhoi 57 as a stop gap

Yes and he doesn't understand that India will never by a fighter jets from X country who is dependent on Y country for engine to put it up into the air..... Why buy such a plane when you have single supplier with engine and jet ready? That engine too will be on the mercy of uncle Sam whose mood keeps changing like a dresses.... Follow on orders for Rafales in small batches over the years is only the plan....

PN has also considered acquiring Swordfish just a few years ago as a P-3 replacement.

There are evident performance and capability differences between the Poseidon and Swordfish, but Saab is not aiming to present the Swordfish as the superior system. Rather, Saab is taking aim at cost-conscious markets and is positioning the Swordfish as the more suitable system. For navies seeking MPAs to support their anti-access and area-denial (A2/AD) and littoral security objectives, the Swordfish should more than suffice. However, in contrast to the Poseidon, the Swordfish is – as per Saab – two-thirds the acquisition price and half the through-life cost of the P-8A (Shephard Media).

Note, these are not concrete figures, but a high-level look at the cost-difference between the Swordfish and Poseidon. The flyaway unit-price of a Boeing P-8A is in the range of U.S. $110-125 million per aircraft. However, a logistics, maintenance and training package will push the total cost of each P-8A to roughly $250 million. Saab’s claims would place the Swordfish’s cost to $80 million per aircraft, and with a support package, an approximate price of $140 million per aircraft.

Pakistan showed interest in Eurofighter aswell. Mirage 2000 has been evaluated multiple times. So what?

We never had the financial security to experiment with a new platform back in the day. Sour grapes or not. F-16 was the most logical choice. And the best one. Time has proven it.

Oh please.

Either its your lack of information or you have some idiotic agenda.

Gripen has been repeatedly offered to Saudi's despite for all the wrong things they are famous for. And they are far from democracy.

And as someone said, SAAB 2000 is a 10x times more complex and lethal platform. You like it or not, PN has also considered acquiring Swordfish just a few years ago as a P-3 replacement.

Hence this democracy BS is nothing but some sort of misfire from your end.
Why PN isn’t considering an air arm involving block 3 as well as some flankers in the long term given their recent history of big ticket purchases

One more ignorant. Our sukhoi has not got any medal. Our mig 21 pilot got medal for shooting down F16.
