Lately, we have been witnessing great positive signs in the relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan. A recent example of this is the agreement between the two nations on the Transit Price for the Central Asia South Asia electricity transmission project, or better known as CASA-1000. This agreement is the final step in bringing to implementation this long awaited project. The United States is committed to this project and will continue to work with the four participating countries to bring stability and economic prosperity to the region through this project. How many of you have heard about CASA - 1000? Do you know the four main countries involved in this project, or understand what this project entails?

What do you think - could closer ties between AF-PAK be the solution to regional economic prosperity and stability?

Yes it will help, however Afghanistan will have to step up its game:
1-Go after Indian funded terrorists
2-Go after terrorists who ran from Pakistan
3-Stop being provocative on the border

Yes of course, Pakistan and Afghanistan should build serious economic ties also including agreemnets about changing students, have military exercises and military meetings. Yes Pakistan should do some serious steps in the Afghanistan direction. The question is how much all of this the afghan leadership really wants ? ........

there is noting called Indian funded terrorists... those are just myth made by your military to get sympathy by saying that those terrorists are funded by india, as Pakistanis have a hate towards India in their bloods.. pakistan military is using that hate in favor of PA. all the terrorists in afghanistan, pakistan, india are created by Pakistan military.. those terrorists attacks are noting but a backlash of pakistan's work for its master CIA... everyone knows this and only some brainwashed Pakistanis will believe these stores about Indian funded terrorists.

The only way we (Pakistanis and Afghanis) can come close is that we should first destroy indian aided terrorists from region of AF-PAK and secondly we should minimize indian influence from the afghanistan.

let the Indians do what they want, we have just to do more and our bussines with them, at the end they will let the indians go and fall, if we can be better economical and military partners of the Afghans than the indians.

I totally agree to you brother! We need to increase economical and military relations between AF-PAK. Afghanistan is Pakistans brother and most important neighbor, if we unite and increase our bilateral relation not only this will stabilize the region of AF-PAK but also it will helps in eradicating the proxy wars and terrorists of our eastern neighbor.

They will also take you seriously once you will stop selling your mother/sister/brothers to Americans for the sake of dollars.

The strong bilateral relation is only way to tackle american influence from AF-PAK region.

Let's focus on CASA - 1000 and what it means for alleviating some of the energy related issues. For those who might not be familiar with this project, the four nations participating in this project are the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Afghanistan. As you might already know, the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan (Central Asia) are endowed with some of the world's most abundant clean hydropower resources, hence the surplus of electricity during the summer, unlike Pakistan and Afghanistan. AF/Pak's signing of the electricity transit fees marks a significant step in energy trade between Central and South Asia.

As you might already know, CASA-1000 and improving AF/PAK relations has the full support of the U.S. Government. Hopefully, we can all witness some of Pakistan's energy crisis diminish as soon as this project is put into implementation mode. This would also improve working relations between AF/PAK and hopefully create a degree of mutual trust and bolster economic transactions and bilateral trade across the border.
