We didn't allow them to conduct any anti-China political/military activities though did we ? ...until very recently ,and had China been more of a neutral player between India-Pakistan instead of such an overt strategic alliance with anti-India forces we would have maintained our position --and China would have continued on its Peaceful Rise without having to worry about us .

That's what it come down to --Live and let live.

Thats why I mentioned a Chinese link to Maoists is very unlikely .

Supporting a strategic ally against international pressure , building infrastructure -military/non-military is one thing . Supporting an insurgent group is something totally different.It will lead to eye -for-an-eye responses.A situation which can turn real messy for all concerned in the region.
