What's new

Contrary to popular belief, one way time machines exist.

And exactly how can that be achieved? Time itself is nothing but a measure associated with movement of celestial bodies (the sun), how do you control something which is just a concept not a tangible thing

When Physicists talk about time they don't mean the human perception of time buddy, they mean the time in which quantum events happen, like when the electron moves, or if you are a string theory supporter the time in which quantum field and quantum gravity work.

.
I think following can be a simple way to put it for those who understand basic physics: The greater the energy of a system, slower the time for that system.
So if someone travels in a very fast spaceship time is slower for him compared to someone living on earth. Hence earth guy ages quicker. Spacesship guy ages slower.

.
Time travel is BS, time is not a geographical location, where one can go and come back from.

Assume that if time travel is possible someone goes back in time and kills his parents before his birth, then how do you explain the murder of those two people? who murdered them because then that person (who travelled back in time and killed) couldn't have born?

That is called "Grand Father Paradox"

You're right. It makes much more sense to convey "digital information" across space-time, rather than our physical bodies.

In fact scientists today are already successfully doing experiments like quantum teleportation, so it's not that much of a stretch to imagine that data could be sent this way.

Science fiction and human discourse is obsessed with the idea of sending our bodies across space-time, because it is a much more exciting idea to think about. But in practical terms that would be extremely difficult and costly in terms of energy, even IF we had the technology. Several contemporary theories require the energy equivalent of multiple nuclear explosions just to open a small wormhole.

Whereas conveying digital information across space-time would present a much easier and infinitely more cost-effective approach.

All in theory of course.

This post of yours reminds me of my favorite movie "CONTACT" of Jodi Foster

There is time like past, present future. But there is a different type of time aswell, it's not really related to the absolute concept of time, but rather how matter moves in space, E.g

There are two points in universe. A and B, you live in A, you then you go to B, you spent only one day in point B, but when you come back to point A, 100000 days have passed in point A, then again you spend a day in point A, and then go back to point B, and you notice, nothing has really changed in point B...So a day of Point B is equal to 100000 days of point A.

So this type of "time" is relative to space. Some people think this phenomena may exist in the universe...

Don't run too fast, or stay too close to fat people. Else time dilation will occur. :D

Note: I should get a friggin Noble for such an easy definition of "Time Dilation" :omghaha:

So, What's the conclusion for a layman?

Why was he given great portion of beauty? Why are there seven heavens? Are there corresponding seven hells also?

As sur explained, there are seven layers of universe, we are at the first one, and the bottom one. We haven't even been able to explore the first layer, yet alone, see beyond it......

.
Mirror is also a kind of time machine, because the reflection we see in it, is few milliseconds older

Yeah, I think the theory of relativity of time might be applied to the concept of seven skies/layers of universe.

.
LOL... how are you mate? :D

On topic: By your definition, people are traveling in time (en-masse) in Karachi? :omghaha:

one way time machine....
You will never come back

Yeah, but energy is subjected to relativity of "time" too.

Unless we have a bench mark to measure the relativity of time..

I honestly don't believe in any of this crap, I believe in the multiverse theory. There is infinite amount of parallel universes. Maybe God actually exists in one of them but you never know.

even I like it, because of 'family guy'. :P

ofcourse they exist.u dnt need all these theories to prove it..if it took me 3 hrs to travel from one place to other it means i travelled 3 hrs in to future..is it not??:yay:

think abt it

A show on Discovery stated that teleporting one person will consume all energy on earth

You can achieve the same effect by cryogenically freezing yourself and thawing out after 200 years. No spaceships or black holes needed.

P.S. In case it's not evident, the atoms in your body will have aged "normally" but, as long as the biological processes are arrested, the net biological effect will be the same as time dilation.
