Conspiracy against Pakistan Army

He is effin minister of state, he should have taken a side. At least, he could have said that we stand with out national institutes and army, no allegations should be leveled at these national assets without proof.

But that is the point: Taking sides in a matter heading to court as claimed by ISPR is not appropriate.

.
Only in Pakistan a private news channel has the audacity to blame a national security institution and its chief for an attempted murder without any kind of proof and then get away with it without any action in return.

No wonder anti-Pakistan elements are popping out in one form or other in this country. After all this environment is the best for the enemies of Pakistan.

agreed. I feel everyone has right to blame the army but everyone has to prove the blame as well.

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Raheel Sharif was briefed at the headquarters of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) by the agency's top brass on the functioning of its various operations and tasks.

Upon his arrival at the headquarters, DG ISI Lt-Gen Zaheerul Islam received the army chief. The COAS was given a detailed briefing on the internal and external security situation of the country.

The army chief appreciated the role of ISI vis-à-vis national security and lauded the contributions and sacrifices of its officers towards strengthening national defence.

The army chief’s visit is also being seen as an attempt at dispelling the impression that the two institutions have development any differences on professional matters.

Highly-placed sources told Dawn that the army chief 's visit was also aimed at boosting the morale of the premier intelligence agency after it witnessed a series of allegations following an attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir.

Sources said senior ISI officials had expressed their anger over the allegations that have been recently levelled against the spy agency.

Sources said the ISI’s top brass briefed the army chief on sacrifices rendered by personnel working for the agency in the war against terror.

The army chief was also given a detailed briefing on the internal security environment, including in Karachi, Balochistan and the tribal areas.

General Raheel expressed satisfaction over the ISI’s role and operations in relation to national security and safeguarding the country from internal and external threats.

The ISI's intelligence sharing with national and foreign civil intelligence agencies in countering terrorism also came under discussion during the briefing.

After today’s briefing, General Raheel is expected to meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at some point this week during which the army chief would take the premier into confidence on matters of national security.

Today's meeting comes just days after the rumblings over a growing civil-military divide. It was also the first ever visit of the COAS to the ISI headquarters since assuming the command of the army in November last year.

The rift which has been attributed to the trial of General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, statements issued by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif as well as other factors was beginning to attain near-alarming proportions last week. It was tackled by meetings between the political and military leadership as well as an explanation by Asif who reaffirmed his "support and respect" for the armed forces.

The attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir in Karachi has however put a strain on relations again. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif decided to constitute a three-member judicial commission to probe into the murder attempt on Mir, and also visited the injured journalist at the hospital.

Amir Mir, brother of Hamid and also a journalist, had accused some members of the ISI for the attack, saying the wounded television anchor had felt threatened beforehand.

Mateen Haider contributed to reporting.

Govt, Taliban negotiators reach consensus on ceasefire
DAWN.COM

the latter had ended last week, DawnNews reported.

The decision was taken at the meeting, which took place at Punjab House and had extension of the ceasefire, release of non-combatant Taliban prisoners and establishment of a peace zone high on the agenda.

It had been convened by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and was the first joint meeting of the committees after the TTP’s announcement of ending the ceasefire.

Speaking to media representatives after the meeting, head of the TTP negotiators' committee, Maulana Samiul Haq said that an atmosphere of confidence and trust was prevailing on both the sides.

He said the two committees have agreed to form a new subcommittee to address reservations shown by both sides.

The chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-S), who is known as “Father of Taliban” in the West, said that his committee will try to arrange a meeting with the TTP Shura this week.

“We will ask the Taliban leadership for steps that can prove productive for restoration of peace in the country,” he said.

An official had earlier told Dawn that the progress of the peace process would be reviewed during the meeting.

Another official had said that the government expected the TTP not only to extend the ceasefire but also to reciprocate its goodwill gesture of releasing 19 non-combatant Taliban.

Speaking to reporters prior to the start of the meetin
g, Maulana Samiul Haq said no deadlock existed in the dialogue, adding that the talks were happening after a delay only due to unrelated issues.

Before the meeting began, Chaudhry Nisar met with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and briefed the premier on the latest developments in the dialogue.

The government has been trying to negotiate a peace deal with the TTP in efforts to end years of fighting in the country's northwest that has killed thousands of people.

After the talks formally began, the TTP had announced a one-month ceasefire on March 1 and then extended it for another 10 days. But last Wednesday, the Taliban said they would not renew the ceasefire, though they would still continue talks with the government.

The Taliban statement that called off the ceasefire did not explicitly say whether the group would refrain from or resume attacks against government forces.

this stupid is bzy releasing terrorists?
