Considerable differences with India over killing of Indian fishermen: Italy

what about those two lives?....as jacksparrow said it would have been different if those were whites.
They might not did it on purpose, but they killed two lives, which means they dont take Indian serious.

Bull crap! The shooting happened 40 Km off-cast Kochi port. That is damn well within our territorial waters. The two trigger-happy lunatics are going to pay for their callousness. Italians must first realize that we don't appreciate this kind of an attitude; first doing something wrong and then getting away with it.

Dude, you realize that the Italian ship also has 19 Indian crew members, and the Italian guards fired their weapons to safeguard the ship (atleast according to them) which also includes these Indian crewmen.

. .
Oh boy!

They will have to undergo some famous Indian 'remand' (3rd degree) now.

Unlikely. Italy won my respect in this incident, in how they move heaven and earth to secure their citizens. Just compare it with the attitude of GoI towards its citizens especially those in Gulf countries.

What do you have to say about the attitude of GoI over the incident of the Norway authorities and the Indian couple and their kids?

Negligible in front of the scale and magnitude of problems that Indians have to face in Gulf.

Italy says the men have immunity from Indian law as the tanker, the Enrica Lexie, was flying with an Italian flag in international waters as it sailed from Singapore to Egypt when the shooting occurred on Wednesday.

The Italians are reading this very very conveniently. The crime took place on an Indian ship in international waters. The criminals were on an Italian ship. Also those Italians were arrested once they were in India.

Immunity from Indian laws? I'm no lawyer but sounds moot.

2 ship guards held, to face murder case

Italian_marines_arrested_295x200.jpg

Two armed Italian marine personnel allegedly involved in Wednesday’s killing of two Indian fishermen off Kollam were arrested by the police Sunday afternoon and charged with murder, while an Italian delegation landed in New Delhi and held talks with the external affairs ministry on the incident.

India had sought Italy’s help to ensure that the “law of the land takes its course”. The Italian securitymen had mistaken the fishermen for pirates, and shot and killed them.
Latorre Massimiliano and Salvatore Girone, part of the six-member marine team on board Italian merchant ship Enrica Lexie, were brought to the shore nearly eight hours past the earlier deadline set by the police.

The ship’s captain, Umberto Vitiello, was also brought to shore for further investigations. He will not face any penal liability, but has civil liability as the firing was from a vessel under his command.

The three were taken to the Central Industrial Security Force guesthouse at Willingdon Island by the police, and will be taken to Kollam Monday. As Monday is a court holiday, the two marines will be presented at the chief judicial magistrate’s residence.
The police said a case of murder under Section 302 IPC was filed against the marines based on the complaint filed by the next of kin of the deceased at a local police station.

well I'm not versed in international marine law but if it happened 40 km away from India It's certainly not in Indian territorial water as it end at 22 km but also it's not in the International water they were in Indian contiguous zone which extend up to 44km away and which a state can exert limited control for the purpose of preventing or punishing "infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws and regulations within its territory or territorial sea" well if it was 44km away not 40 then it would be Indian Exclusive economic zone which extend to 370km if don't overlap with other countries water and india has control of all economic resources within its exclusive economic zone, including fishing, mining, oil exploration, and any pollution of those resources.but I guess they can't enforce their laws if I'm not wrong in these situations the law of the country that ship sail under it's flag would be applied.

but another matter is that they have arrested those sailors on Indian soil not on the ship in the international water and if I'm not wrong some countries have laws that allow them to sentence peoples for the crime they committed in other countries if somebody took those individuals to the court and if India have such rule I don't think Italian government have any base for complaint as it was those sailors problem for entering Indian soil while knowing there is the possibility that somebody take them to the court.
