A controversy broke out on Wednesday as Congress and Samajwadi Party objected to Team India donning an orange jersey in their World Cup encounter against England on June 30. India will be wearing a different coloured jersey for the match as hosts England also have a blue jersey, and ICC rules require visiting teams to wear a different coloured jersey in case of a clash during televised tournaments.

Both the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) seem to object that the BCCI chose orange over other colours. The ruling BJP has a saffron flag. “Modi wants to paint the country saffron,” SP leader Abu Azmi was quoted as saying by television channels.

The International Committee of Cricket clarified that the colour options were given to BCCI by them and the Indian board selected the combination that they felt was best for them. ” The whole idea is to be different as England also wears a same shade of blue as India. The design is taken from India’s old T20 jersey which had orange in it,” ICC said in a statement on Wednesday.

The jersey is expected to be predominantly orange yet. The BCCI is yet to unveil it. The concept of multiple jerseys has been inspired from club football in which players choose their colour on a home and away basis.

This won’t be the first instance at ICC World Cup 2019 where a team has to donne a different jersey. South Africa wore a yellow jersey during their game against Bangladesh.

India are currently placed third on the points table, having won four of their 5 games. The Virat Kohli-led side will take on West Indies next on June 27, 2019. India will then face England on June 30 at Edgbaston.

Does it make any impact on Indian Muslims daily life ? ..... no , let them do whatever they like. It's Hindu majority country.

@jamahir RSS even wants to introduce Hindutva in cricket.
Virat Kohli is a pucca Hinduwadi.

After few years maybe they will ban Muslims from joining the team. It is like US national team competing in KKK uniform.

We will not get Muslim Legends like Azharuddin.

Their country their rules.

Until Muslims increase their population, they are bound to live under the thumb of fanatics.

The rule itself is absurd since cricket isn't like football where all players from both teams are on the field at the same time. Again, it may cause confusion when fielders throw the ball towards the wicky or bowler for run-outs but it isn't really significant. Orange is still a good color and I really used to like Dutch team's orange jersey

I've seen the jersey. It's mostly blue with some orange. Nothing to make a big deal about.

Problem is not Saffron. The issue is why BCCI insisted on Saffron instead of other available colors. If ICC had assigned them saffron then it would have been no issue.

*facepalm*

Indian football jersey has similar home and away jersey... blue and orange.

What amazes me is how muslims...all over the world.....Complain about liberal nations about not being secular enough..or not giving enough rights....

while their own muslim dominated countries are the epitome of wiping out minorities....forget about rights...lol

All major colors are being worn by other teams and hence you need to find an alternative which doesn't deviate from the prime color pattern but also gives a significant difference from the other team's jersey

yeah.....why dont you build temples for them there....or let them protest against eating beef

besides its slave labour....they are not getting fed for free....have you ever been to the middle east and see the condition of those south asian workers?

Just youtube the video on how they treat ......muslims from poorer countries...LOL ...you can forget about how they treat other religions....

besides how many NON muslims have any major roles in any MUSLIM country ???
and yet muslims complain about their position in liberal nations...even if they have held prominent positions in society and power....and yet.....muslims whine and cry foul.......

I have read about the tactics that muslims employ in western nations they go as economic refugees....

Every major troubled area in the world .....has somehow muslims in the center of it :p

and strangly enough.....when they go as refugees...they always go to the INFIDEL western countries...not the RICH saudis...quataris or uae....

Problems with muslims in center of it somehow.
