What's new

Confirmed : PAF Negotiating For L-15 LIFT Aircrafts !

What is the point of adding new jets when enemy can take them out while on the ground.
One more strike can wipe out the entire fleet.
Army wants to maintain their ineptness and develop at the same time, this is a futile exercise.
Oh bhai it's just a conversation and advance trainer this means we are looking for 5th generation jets either from turkey or from China ( J35 for near term and KAAN for long term)

And don't we have base air defense like SPADA 2000 and HQ-7 as well as medium to long range SAMs

So your theory is quite ridiculous that we should not add new jets in PAF and should not replace our aging jets because of fear that enemy will destroy these jets on the ground lol

The attack on Miawali Base must have taken a good chunk of fighters then. India 16 (Miawali), Pakistan 2 (Swift Retort)

If the news is true, it will pave the way for the induction of the next twin-engine fighter jet in PAF, which could be FC-31.

YOu did not understand his post, he was not referring to India taking them out but rather terrorists which have so easily been able to attack our air bases and take prized assets such as P3C and Erieye out.

It took out F-7s, around 3-10

Read his post carefully sir he was not talking about terrorists but the enemy strikes

If he was talking about terrorists than why could stop to induct new jets because of terrorist attacks on military the solution is very simple we need to improve our Intel and security around the military installations to deny these attacks

What does 3-10 mean?
If we cannot trust the numbers provided by army then how do we know the correct number is not 20 and aircraft other than f-7 were taken out?

The news was circulating when the L-15s were seen flying from Karachi to Islamabad and then on to Dubai. Furthermore it's said they would be stopping in Pakistan during their return flight.

Breaking : CATIC has confirmed to correspondents during Dubai Air Show 2023 that Pakistan is in formal negotiations for acquisition of L-15 LIFT fighters to replace its aging F-7PG fighters which are currently used to carry out Operational Conversion of PAF Pilots.

Saw them while landing in ISB. Any sources for your claims?

3 is the number claimed by the army, but according to some satellite images its possible the damage could be upto 10 based on the damaged bunkers.

F-7 because Mianwali doesn't store any other type of fighter jets

The attack had absolutely nothing to do with this acquisition, planning for it has been taking place since well before the attack.

Its a LIFT platform and a good one at that.
Probably in the class of South Korean T-50

It can be modified / upgraded to carry weapons and can perform Light attach/ anti armor/ close air support roles. like the korean F50 version

However since PAF already has JF17s , i dont see them modifying these for combat operations unless something really bad happens.

Its the same with IAF, HAL had proposed upgrading our 120+ BAE hawks Advance Jet Trainers to fire ASRAAM and LGBs , but it would have cost nearly 1 billion USD and pissed off the Brits , just to bring their combat capabilities at par with Jaguars

Exactly, I also think they are for dedicated LIFT purpose only. This will also be cleared by the number of units PAF acquires (if the deal go through). IF the number is just 12-18 then these will be purely for fighter training but if the numbers are like 40+ then it means PAF has another role for these as well.

IMO, PAF may opt for not more than a squadron dedicated for LIFT and may want to save most of its resources for next batches of J-10Cs and PL-15s etc.

But the question is are we improving? Lessons should had been learnt from Naval PAF air base attacks but it wasn't as clearly Mianwali base got hit again and we lost assets though it is still debatable which assets were lost.

The PAF is reportedly interested in the L-15B, which is already configured to carry the SD-10, LGBs, and some other Chinese munitions (a few of which I think the PAF already has). The value isn't just that it can serve as a light fighter (which the PAF doesn't need), but that the PAF can use it in DACT.

UPDATE: The L-15 wasn't scheduled for an Aerial Display today (last day), so early on it was moved from the Static Display & carried on its Ferry Flight to Karachi - where it's gonna have an extended stay.

Also, 'Officially' nothing is confirmed. Unofficially - the Air Show was a success in regards to various projects.
