I don't disagree with defense, but regardless, Israel CANNOT attack Iran conventionally. Anything other than a 4-ship of F-16's doing an extreme-ranged strike with air to air refueling, is simply impossible. Too much distance between the nations. And contrary to all the bombastic news from Iran, the U.S. is not going to attack either.

Surely some kind of Israeli strike plan is still on the table.

Israel said if Iran gets nukes they wont hesitate to strike, they knew that their F16 could not penetrate your defences so they bought the F35 for that reason. Iran is no Syria thats for sure if Israel does strike it will be very messy for the whole region.

While it is possible for Israel to bomb Syria, it is technically impossible for them to bomb Iran with F-35s. It is just too far.

Only the USA can do that (which I doubt in the present economic climate).

I think it has more to do with a grudge and being scared. Iran used to be a close ally of the US. It is certainly not in the interests of the likes of AIPAC for America to restart good relations with Iran.
