LAHORE: Under the Land Record Management Information System (LRMIS), service centres have been established in all tehsils of the province, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced on Tuesday.
The chief minister said the Punjab government has achieved another milestone by completing this “revolutionary project of public service”. He said that people will be rid of the patwar culture through the Land Record Management Information System and it will eliminate wrong registration of land, corruption, fraud, and forgery. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting at the Civil Secretariat through video link. The meeting reviewed the progress on Land Record Management Information System and approved establishment of Punjab Land Record Authority for the implementation of the Land Record Management Information System.
Shahbaz Sharif said LRMIS is a historic step of the Punjab government for providing relief to the people and it will be rid them of unnecessary litigation. While giving approval to the Land Record Authority, the chief minister directed that the process of legislation for setting it up should be completed at the earliest. He said that the common man will get real relief through this “splendid project” worth billions of rupees, which would allow immediate provision of ownership deeds and transfer of land. Shahbaz Sharif said that under LRMIS land-related documents have now become available to the people under one roof.
He said that an effective monitoring system has been evolved with the help of modern technology through LRMIS. A state-of-the-art centralised data centre is also being set up in this regard. The chief minister said that pilot project of geographical information system is being started in three districts of Punjab and online information will be available to the people about their land through this modern system. He said that the scope of this system will be expanded throughout the province under a phased programme. Training of staff of service centres and refresher courses for them are very essential and full attention should be paid to it, the chief minister said. Planning and Development chairman gave a detailed briefing on this project.
Provincial ministers Rana Sanaullah, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, MPAs Qamarul Islam Raja, Mian Tariq Mehmood, Pir Muhammad Ashraf Rasool, Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal, Board of Revenue senior member, Planning and Development chairman, secretaries concerned, Lahore commissioner and senior officers attended the meeting.
