Hello,

I have 2 computer related stuff to ask but first let me say this straight:

NO TROLLS, you will be reported without warning
No born PhD mindsets (I dont need your rubbish insides from youtube to wikipedia aleady went through youtube videos)

ONLY REAL COMPUTER EXPERTS PLEASE respond!

I have a HP laptop from my institute A and currently I am in University B (both A and B are in different countries so its not just a matter of different institutes in the same country)

Anyway, for about 2 weeks now whenever I turn it on it has the blue light going...fan runs a but but it doesnt have anything on the screen...Blank

I have tried what youtube showed me :

- using a bright lamp on the screen to see if the screen light is gone or something
- attach it to an LCD screen

Nothing worked....

What other options do I have...I need the bloody software from Institute A in that laptop for my project in Uni B...

I cant go back just to get it looked at....I have a tight schedule here with this other project....and I havent reported it in coz it is tough to explain will email my supervisor from A about it...the bloody IT help at B arent helpful at all they refused to have a look at it coz it doesnt belong to Uni B...

So other options I have which I can do to check whats wrong with it?!

2nd thing I needed help with was I need to get an Ipad or something...a tablet ...Me being not in touch with gadgets am a bit mesmerized as to what to get...

Since my Chinese friend will be going to China in mid February she will take this laptop that I am currently using back to China (its her old laptop she lent me since she has a new one) so I need some alternative means and I dont wanna spend on a laptop as I still have a Sony laptop in institute A which is personal ...might be old but I dont wanna stock up on laptops...so I thought of getting a tablet...since I travel alot it would be lighter and easier to take around...

Suggestions and ideas please!

Thank you!

Does it beeps...? Usually when there is hardware related problems or software related problems, the BIOS tells what is the problem with that gadget using beep sounds...Each beep sound pattern tells about different problems...So first question is to ask whether you heared any beep sound Sir....?...:-)

I have an HP running windows 7. When I turn it on I get the windows tweet before the login screen.
Do you hear anything? Do you even hear the hard drive working?
I think I have windows 7....yes i do..professional thing..
Errr...I am far from a computer expert i hear something like a fan for a while then it just has lights on but screen black all the time

if attaching an external screen doesn't show video it's most likely that the problem is ur video card, unless there's another thing different than normal.

no...no beep..

Actually the week it 1st restarted itself (2 weeks ago) it was 1 restart than few days restarted twice and then it did that alot...Then it just never restarted...went blank...and oh yea it was giving display error so I got my little brother (family friend) to look into it using Teamviewer...he ran tests it said all is well then he got out of my computer and few mins later it just tried to restart with some blue screen and then it just went blank ...I have a pix of the blue screen wait let me put it up...

Let me get this straight, you have a dead laptop that has data you need on it that you need ? or are you just looking for suggestions on a new laptop/tablet to replace the dead laptop ?

the surface pro 3 is pretty good, they describe it as a 'laplet' .. more than a tab, almost a laptop

Microsoft Surface Tablets - The Windows Tablet That Does More

2 different problems

1) stupid cheap institute problem has a thousand euro worth of softwares i need...
2) I want a new tablet or something and am not sure what I want :(

Do you hear this.
no it doesnt get there....it is just plain blank...no sound wait let me turn it on and check incase i was ignorant to it...

hmmmm.....damn was hoping it was just needing a whack and then would start!

Can you post a snap of that lappy?
Anyways sol 1-
remove the battery and power
adapter connector from your
laptop. Press and hold the power
button for more than ten
seconds. Once that is done try to
start.
Sol-2 try to boot from a diff. CD
Sol-3 check whether your screen is not damaged.
My guess is that either your lappy's motherboard has failed(90% chances) or screen problem or hdd problem(less chances).

I think you have far more serious problems than the screen.
It doesn't sound like it is booting.

You may need to boot from a USB drive
err what?

how?

I did no.1 and no luck
no idea what no.2 means

What's boot?

no...no beep..

@1000 is Right....There can be a video card error...But if there is a video card error then everytime you restart your PC it will show you that a new hardware has been discovered and installing drivers for it...But if video card is totally dead, then also the PC should start because i think BIOS doesn't beeps when there is no display connected to the PC... I had tried this many time and my PC straight away gets on without any beep...Might be your RAM is not placed properly...Try to refitt your RAM Sir....:-)
