Compulsory military training for Indian Youths?

.
Extremely narrow minded and short sighted reasons for not training our youth. Indian politicans never think of the greater good and how beneficial a trainined and motivated youth can be for naiton building. With a lack of resources as the point they use, how about they pay some goddamn attention to the sorry states of primary and all levels of education in India....fuking idiots! Typical Rahul Gandhi attitudes.....

.
Years back , my company gave a letter of intent to the state govt (Maharashtra) in which we required a peice of land to build tackle courses, dormitories and a general soccer sized field (for multi-sports). Our intent was to open up a private boot-camp area for budding youth who would want to experience de-facto military type of physical training / discipline / team sports / First Aid skills (with certificates) / water sports with life guard accredition as well. This was what it was going to be - JUST A sort of holiday BOOTCAMP with a difference . Ex military officers (retired) were on board as well as eager and active paper pushers and as team members who wanted such an idea to be of fruition in India .

After 3 years of beuracratic delays , our plan - thoroughly scrutinised and verified by various govt departments (police, Navy, MOD, Income Tax Dept et al , was rejected as (believe it or not), ".. not in the best interest of the security of India.." (to paraphrase).

I could have understood the "security" aspect if guns were involved. Ours was a "BOOTCAMP" of sorts , sans guns !!! Go figure :) Mera desh mahaan bhai aur beheno !!

Why would the Govt make available to a private Company for such a purpose ? ..& if it agreed to one whats stopping others from asking for similar things ?

If the Company was serious enough it could have bought land on its own. Such measures are often seen as attempts to acquire land which is used for other purposes later.

Lastly, the Govt has created options like NCC & Territorial Army which is good enough for those keen.

** any why not? Ours was a project that had ex-mil personnel on board as well , who wanted to do away with the NCC / T/A regimen and add a serious element to fun for all ages. As for what's stopping others from asking for similar things - WHY NOT? Since when did personal and character developments become the sole responsibility of the government in India?

*** are you insulting my intelligence and my company's integrity by slapping a statement like that?

*** Yes but ours DID NOT include guns on the plans :) Samjhe teesri aankh wale?

^^^ And before jumping, (which anyways, quite a lot of civilians also have the guts for that!) , you need to go through the rigours of punishing physical training and harsh environments. Not only that but have your wits longing till you drop. It's all about grit, determination, the thirst for physical and mental challenge .

To undertake such a huge task.......the infrastructure is not there......

.
military training should not be compulsary.....however NCC should be made compulsary in schools and collages, where the cadets should the option of being directy recruited into the armed forces if they desire and meet the requirements-either as soldiers or tech specialists (might help in directly recruiting the required computer geeks and would be hackers)

.
You need to be qualified in para jumping to wear a Maroon.

Ha....ha.....ha.....man Its more hard than para jumping, who would run for the 25 to 30km with the 60 to 65 kg weight and what about the sharp mind, and what about the other tough training. by the way thanks.
