Comparison : Pakistani Al Khalid-1 MBT vs Israeli Merkava IV MBT !

Downgraded Abrams? Meh, I don't think they are a very serious threat.
The only downgraded thing in Egyptian Abrams is lack of DU armor. But still very capable tank. They have an excellent 120-mm with excellent KEW-A2 rounds.

They are very vulnerable to heat-seeking munitions (thanks to its gas-turbine engine).
For modern heat seeking munitions there is no any difference. They can perfectly lock on hulls heat too.

The main downside of turbine is that it requires much more fuel and therefore much more vulnerable fuel supplies.

I think the Merkava IV does use DU shells
Never seen those, anyway thee is no big difference between DU and tungsten.

This one lacks a thermal camera as far as i can see. Anyhow there is absolutely no reason to say that AK has more firepower than Merkava.

Alkhalid and Alkhalid I both have thermal imagers, its the French Sagem third-generation thermal imagers.

Pictures of the thermal imagers of old Alkhalid back in 2004 could be seen in post#9 http://www.defence.pk/forums/pakist...nk-type-90-iim-mbt-2000-information-pool.html

Pakistan's defence forces are smaller in terms of size as compared to the Indian forces, we have to keep our toys up to date to survive.....Israel faces the same dilemma...Al Khalids will face off T-90s incase of a war..and the main fight will be in the Southern Desert of Pakistan which borders India, so there would be no reason that we won't build thermal imagers or an independent commander's site for Al Khalids ...Pak Army isn't an Arab army....we plan everything ahead.

Here is an Al Khalid simulator made by Pakistan, probably for the older AlKhalids..but a nice video..would recommend it

Just a lil' correction, brother. AK is yet to be used on the western front. The tank which was 'destroyed' was a Al-Zarrar, it was hit by a RPG, then faced some real heavy caliber bullets, then again another RPG. Yet the crew was safe. It was repaired by HIT and it's again in service now ;)

Now coming to AK, if AZ can withstand 2 RPGs, you can well imagine what AK's armour which is way more powerful than AZ can resist. Though I'm not a expert on Tanks. You may wanna call in Mr. Nabil, he's the PDF expert on Tanks :D

Ur boasting about 2 rounds?Challenger 2 was hit by 70 RPG rounds in iraq and still survived. And merkava offers equal if not better protection than challenger.

No, its not.

Now THIS is stupid...or just exaggeration. Any direct hit from Al Khalid-1 on the "right" spot , and Merkava IV will face severe damage. This bouncing off theory is just toooo exaggerated.

Even Al Khalid is better than T-90S. Forget about Al Khalid-1 that we are discussing here. So your point?

Oh ho baba, there is no patriotism involved in the thread. I just started this thread for fun. Read my OP...Did I write any exaggeration etc?

Al khalid is better than t-90s,well keep believing that.I suppose IA bought a new tank so that it could serve as target practice for a MBT that china rejected. If it was so great ,china would have made it its standard MBt.

Any source for the 70 number?

China didn't reject anything. But again, your knowledge of war doctrines, armor environments is zero and hence you come out as a complete fool. First thing, let me educate you about YOUR Army...IA didn't bought T-90S BUT an upgraded version of it. Basic Version of Al Khalid is better , slightly better if I may say, to T-90S. Well, to cut things short, even RUSSIAN POSTERS on this forum have accepted that...you know why? Because unlike your race, they aren't inferiority-complex stricken ultra-patriotic goons who are ignorant of armor. They accept facts as they are instead of crying like babies without any knowledge of the subject being discussed.

Fool IA t-90 is still called t-90s bhisma. How am i to know which t-90s u are talking abt?since u said t-90s i naturally assumed it was indian army t-90s.

'In one encounter within the urban area a Challenger 2 came under attack from irregular forces with machine guns and rocket propelled grenades. The driver's sight was damaged and while attempting to back away under the commander's directions, the other sights were damaged and the tank threw its tracks entering a ditch. It was hit directly by fourteen rocket propelled grenades from close range and a MILAN anti-tank missile.[11] The crew survived remaining safe within the tank until the tank was recovered for repairs, the worst damage being to the sighting system. It was back in operation six hours later after repairs. One Challenger 2 operating near Basra survived being hit by 70 RPGs in another incident.'

The number is said to be around 10-12.. 70 rpg hits from wikipedia and other's is exaggerated.

Only one coming out as a fool is you. Why would anyone have to be a fool just because they ask you for a source of your info?

Assumptions are made in cases not clear information is provided by so called grown up men.How am i to know which one u were refering t-90s russian model or t-90s bhisma as both are t-90s.

Well, first of all, before you have quoted the reported number of RPG hits that Challenger-2 survived, you should have had a lil' research on Tank armour. This is a well known fact that this case was exaggerated. And about Al-Zarrar getting hit by the RPGs, I never said it couldn't take more of those RPGs, I just reported an incident where tank crew remained safe. I am sure that badly hit Al-Zarrar could have taken more hits.
