DUBAI: A Jordanian Taliban commander, moved to Afghanistan in 1999 and stayed on to fight US-led forces, was killed in a US drone attack in Waziristan, extremist websites monitored by US-based SITE Intelligence said on Monday.

The Al Fallujah and Shamukh al Islam forums announced the “martyrdom” of Mahmud Mahdi Zeidan on January 10, whose nome de guerre was Mansur al Shami, SITE reported. “The martyrdom of Mahmud Mahdi Zeidan... on the soil of Pakistan, the land of the diligent and of the mujahedeen is confirmed,” it reported.

SITE did not specify which drone strike the Jordanian was killed in. Pakistani officials said last week that 13 militants were killed in two US drone strikes in Waziristan, of whom four were foreign.

Zeidan had most recently appeared on January 4 in a recording by As-Sahab – a website frequently used by Al Qaeda – giving a sermon, the US monitoring group said.

He also recorded an audio message released by As-Sahab in August last year giving advice to mujahideen. Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, the man believed to have killed seven CIA agents in Afghanistan earlier this month, was also of Jordanian origin.

Seems like Iraq has lost its cache' for the jihadis. The big scene is now FATA/Pakistan. That seems to be the battlefield of choice for achieving martyrdom.

the drone attacks are working, too slowly with toooo!!!! less accuracy, i guess.

on the other hand in case of failed drone attacks and the loss of innocent civilians of that area can create a bad senario of turning away the support of local people who are till now favoring this operation conducted by pakistan forces in this area. so doing this on every day basis can lead to a very bad scene as you can imagine the above picture and also check from the history of this place.

anyhow, one more commander gone that means one less to go, that is good news, indeed.

This is an unusual irhabist. He's been in Afghanistan and Pakistan since 1999 so he's unquestionably an able commander with considerable expertise.

He won't be easily replaced although we've no reason to believe that he won't be quickly replaced.

Whether the man behind him has the same skill remains to be seen. These attacks don't reduce numbers appreciably but they do reduce a focused elite of core talent towards the top end.

You know you've made it to the big-time when you're dodging HELLFIRES being tossed at you at all hours...

Thanks.:usflag:
