We had far better economy than India in 1965 and even back then we did not get any backing from International powers.
The problem is not economy but simple fact that Non-Mulism countries wont support Pakistan for a Muslim region called Kashmir.

It is a rock and a hard place situation. Neither options have clear outcomes and weigh on the negative side(sins of our fathers upon us in terms of our own economics and diplomacy)..
