Collapse of Huawei-AT&T Deal a Double Blow to China

Like customers don't have choices in Android devices in US.

Actually its the AI embedded in some of the hardware and The EMUI option on the new MATE 10 pro causing security concerns.

Emotion UI is
an Android-based user interface that reinforces Huawei's user-centric design philosophy, "Design with Empathy." Emotion UI improves usability and provides a much simpler navigational experience for users.

Yeah.time for US companies to leave CN market and US stop using CN stuffs now.

Time for Cnese to realize that betraying communist block in 1979 and beg for help from JP-US will only lead CN to the verge of a total collapse

Just imagine when US say no to all Cnese products...well its just like US slap sanction to JP in WW2

why is it a blow to China? it is at most a failed business venue. But political meddling in business practice is indeed a blow to US, a self claimed free market.
Its economic war time now.No more happy party, no more free market for enemy, dude

. .
this is just loser's cry. they cannot compete so they use political force to strongarm their own company.
Okay,US is loser in small game, but she will be the winner in bigger game. CN economy collapse, millions Cnese lose jobs and the West will dominate CN again wt "help" from KMT party in TW.

Every one can see CN is falling like JP in WW2 or USSR in cold war.

Everyone and their dogs know in the US, most people buy their mobile phones through contracts from their phone service provider, instead of buy it from market directly, thats why the deal between Huawei and AT&T is critical to Huawei's success in the US market, the second largest phone market in the world by values.

Because of the brand Samsung and Apple have made. While they do offer flagship phones through the carriers consumers are free to buy whatever they want. And with phones coming out at $1000 people aren't in as much of an upgrading mood yearly.

Look at the breakthrough OnePlus had, not to mention other brand smartphones proving that the consumer will follow the best deal. You see at least 2 iphone commercials every 1 hour on tv, every 3rd youtube video has their commercial also. This is something the Chinese brands, and S. Korean/Taiwan, haven't engaged in.

While there will always be "id!ots" goggling over the iphone or galaxy, I sold the iPhone X in Pakistan for $1500, i'm not complaining. There are many "budget" phones -$250 that meet specs of the big player. LG (Best company ever, in the history of companies) has operated under the radar for years.

I bought my mom an unlocked Asus ~$200 just last week.

Huawei is free to cell its phones in US. I can buy an unlocked one on Amazon right now. So there's nothing to stop Huawei from "dominating" the US market.
Re-read the article... The issue isn't that Huawei cant sell phones in the us . The issue is that Huawei cant seem to partner with an American carrier which will sell them subsidised on a monthly plan. Most American buy phones on a subsidised monthly contract, hardly any buy them OEM direct carrier unlocked.

That's the issue.

good for USA, infact anyone with sane mind should not use chinese built phones for various reasons, ranging from uploading user contextual datas to private files to servers in china.

Phones aren't subsidized like they used to be anymore, where you'd get a free phone just for opening up an account. Most deals now are for 1/2 +/- off the second phone. The wireless carrier makes their money back by upping the price of the phone's call/text/data deal.

Most people either end up financing it over 2 years, depending on their credit score, the less it is the more they'll pay over time while the higher it is they'll still pay the total mspr amount. Or they trade in their previous modelphone which the company refurbishes and sells off to Zimbabwe, India, Pakistan, etc.

But it is still critical for Huawei's success, afterall it is the world second largest phone market, one primary reason why Samsung and Apple can still stay ahead Huawei as of now despite of being slaughtered in China, is that Huawei cannot access to the US market.
I personally want Huawei and other Chinese phone companies to have a strong foothold in US. The cheaper priced(in comparison to iPhone/Samsung Galaxy) high end phones by these Chinese companies would force Apple and Samsung to knock down their price a bit. Apple just goes way too overboard with their pricing.

Maybe you dont live in the US at all:

Most Americans do not even know they are being swindled. They think they are getting subsidized phone from their service provider :disagree:. They don't do the maths. Nothing is free.
