Fishing and coffee, my kind of thread , the above is my little measly fishing boat but I love her just put on the engine and go out in the beautiful sea catch dinner breakfast and lunch .

Coffee it's gotta be blue mountain.
Luckily it grows here in the carribean so not too expensive but very expensive overseas.

Outstanding.

We should open up a fishing thread for all us fishing lovers to post our experiences and catches! Or maybe have @denel 's permission to turn this thread into a coffee and fishing thread? Going out on the boat today myself.

Saw this pic yesterday on Twitter, thought it was amazing these creatures that are sea-bound can actually fly. SobhanAllah.

You know friend terry5; i tried it but did not get the joy from it. Instead, had serrano from cuba - lovely; full bodied. Did you try it?

@Gomig-21 : Not sure if you have taken a trip to Cuba. Just amazing. Been there 5 times. Love it. Was at Santa clara, Holgain coming up via Jardines Del Ray - Man, tarpan fishing is phenomenal - I did not try it yet but I did go out on a cataramaran and nailed some good baracudas and snappers. I was not geared for Tarpan that was the problem. Only negative in cuba, on the beaches, avoid the grassy areas - man sand fleas; they will drive you nuts. another thing, i was in the water, did not wear rubber shoes in the reef and had sea urchin into my heels; first day started to limp, next day was really bad - took fishing hooks, alcohol matches to sterlise clean fishing hooks and took out 5 of them deeply embedded. The 6th one i took out a year later . My only thing on cuba was too much pork - I stuck only to fish and bread/rice/beans. Lost 7 kgs during my last visit - not complaining :) - but if there their local full fruit guava ice cream or TuKola are just lovely.

Early morning catch for breakfast

@denel

I have tried Cuban coffee and it's very very nice .
Barracuda is a very tasty fish but be careful as some bara are poisonous.

The way to find if the fish is poisonous is to lay it on the ground and let the ants tell you if it's okay to eat .

Noted. I did not eat it; we eat snoek here which is a similar fish - just lovely. will pass on the grilling receipe. I love Serrano; there are a few others there but this was my preferred - cubita is the other one but Serrano was having much superior aroma and after taste.

At one time Angola used to produce amazing coffee but because of the war in 70s-90s it went to zero. But they are starting to produce again. Been sampling Kivu - DRC region coffee; really good and bold taste; no acidity.
