Cobra helicopter emergency landing near Kohat

. .
But this one was recovered meaning it will be repaired and returned into service.

yes you are right, but helicopter will undergo extensive structural inspection as a result of impact on ground. it may take a long time. second we exactly donot know how much elaborate facilities of structural repair exist in Pakistan.

apparently looking, the machine looks intact, however, the picture speaks itself to what extent, the damage is caused.

The position of the helicopter shows that it has not landed straight. either its left side skid is broken or de-shapped, that is why its body is resting on left side over the ground. now all parts of the fuselage which have impacted the ground must be checked for stresses, alignment of structure.
helo's one of the 2 main blades is resting on the ground. there is a chance that they were still rotating when they impacted the ground. it means back/recoil stresses going into engine and transmission gears, so they have to be analyzed in detail.

Nose mounted CNITE seems to have also impacted the ground and possibly have susteined damage, being very sensitive in nature.
Just under the nose id mounted 20 mm gun, which might surely impacted the ground, with a chance of rendering it damaged.

The reason why the helicopter came down, is still to be known. possibly engine failure.

Above all, the confidence of our pilots in this old machine and its other brother helos must have been shattered, as it does not remain a reliable, and trustworthy friend.
C'mon we need replacement,
Is somebody listening.........:azn::azn::azn:
