Coast Guard Gets Another Off Shore Patrol Vessel

We need at least 200 helicopters for SAR and another 100 drones for just surveillance and coastal monitoring. Especially on the Bengal and Pakistan border coasts.
On top of that the ICG also needs some medium range fixed wing maritime patrol aircraft. Once the above is in place the ICG will be truly fit for purpose and will be able to take over the security of the entire Indian EEZ which will finally release the IN to get back to their primary purpose i.e. protecting/projecting India's interests beyond India's waters.

I think that picture is incorrect. ICG ships do not carry any missiles.

You are right, this is the correct image,

ICG needs ocean going OPVs about 2000t with heavy machine guns and helicopters, powerful radars, drones, with inbuilt jails which can hold at-least 50 pirates, which can go deep in to the ocean searching for pirates, they should be able to go from eastern coast of India to Andaman islands and return back, all our patrol boats are for short distances only, MOD and CGI should think big, navy should be relieved from anti piracy(police) duties they should concentrate on safeguarding our waters,

That is exactly what this OPV is. Its 2,300 Tons and carries 1 Helicopter with a range of 11,000 Km and a speed of 25 Knots.

sir i think this is not a cost guard ship, it is a IN ship, ICG ships are painted white and there is no ICG insignia and ICG ship has ITALIAN OTOMELARA gun?

You are right. The ICG ships are sister ships of the Saryu class.

It has one 30mm CRN-91 (naval version of the 2A42 30mm Medak gun) main gun, controlled by an electronic fire control system (FCS) developed & jointly produced by the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL).

ICG has atleast 10 OPVs with around 2000 ton displacement and atleast 6 more under construction. They all carry big guns and helis. And all of these ships has a range of more than 8000 kms( some are 10000 km+).

Manned surveillance aircraft are a burden in this age of drones. The per hour operating cost of a UAV is one tenth that of a manned aircraft.

The latter makes more sense.

Close on the heels of the successful launch of its first offshore patrol vessel, state-based Goa Shipyard Limited launched the second of the series of six OPVs, designed in-house and built for the Indian Coast Guard here on Friday.

The 105-metre new generation OPV was launched in presence of Additional Director General of Coast Guard Rajendra Singh in a function held at port town of Vasco.

The GSL officials said that this largest OPV will help meet the increasing requirement of the Indian Coast Guard for undertaking policing and patrolling of the vast Indian exclusive economic zone.

“This ship is also capable of other Coast Guard functions like search and rescue operations, pollution control and external fire fighting. It will also be deployed for ocean surveillance and for monitoring sea lanes of communication,” officials said.

In one of the important features, the OPV is capable of supporting embarkation and operation of the indigenously designed advanced light helicopter.

“The powering requirement of this ship is about ten per cent less, even though the breadth as well as the displacement has been increased to improve habitability, operatibility and survivability,” said Rear Admiral Shekhar Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director, GSL.

“This will directly lead to reduction in fuel related cost over the life cycle of the ship, besides additional comfort and less fatigue to the crew, with better sea bearing characteristics,” he added.

@Carlosa @Viet Maybe this is same OPV that was offered to Vietnam.
