Pakistan in talks to buy Russian air defence systems: Dastgir







MOSCOW: Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan has confirmed that Islamabad is in talks with Moscow on the issue of purchasing air defence systems, adding that Pakistan is interested in such weapons.


He said, “We are very much interested in a very wide range of the Russian weapons technology. We are in negotiations [on air defence systems], and once we conclude negotiations, we will be able to announce about them, Khan said in an interview.

Pakistan and Russia may reach an agreement on Islamabad’s purchasing Russian Su 35 jets in the next few years, the talks on the issue are in their early stages, he said.

Last February, a high ranking military official in Pakistan told Sputnik that Islamabad had no plans to buy the Su 35.

Concerning fighter aircraft Su 35 may be in the next few years that we will be able to reach that point we are in the beginning of negotiations now, the minister said answering a question.

Pakistan is interested in acquiring Russian T 90 tanks as a long term commitment instead of a single purchase, Pakistani Defence Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan told Sputnik in an interview on Thursday.

We are interested in tanks T 90, and it is not going to be a one time purchase, but it is going to be a long term commitment, Khan said.

General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) reached Poland on an official visit. During the visit COAS met Mr Mariusz Blaszczak, Minister of National Defence and Deputy Minister of National Defence. COAS also held separate meetings with Polish military leadership including Chief of General Staff, Commander of the Poland Armed Forces and Commander of Poland Land Forces.
During the meetings, matters of mutual interest including emerging geo-strategic environment, regional security situation and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation were discussed. The Poland military leadership appreciated Pakistan’s contributions and sacrifices for bringing peace and stability in the region and showed interest in sharing of experiences as part of wider training cooperation. COAS also visited Polish Armament Group at Warsaw, Land Forces Training Centre at Poznan and Military Aviation Works.

On arrival, a smartly turned out contingent of Polish Armed Forces presented the Guard of Honour to COAS at General Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

reality is European companies are far more invested in the United States than Iran and will generally comply with U.S. sanctions regardless of developments in Brussels.
however if European union stand firm against the american sanctions on iran it would be very difficult for Americans to rip the right benefits of their one sided sanctions because in previous sanctions implementation in last two decades European union always stood with america but tables are turning now if European companies have business in america so does the american companies have invested a lot in Europe so no one is immune on the other hand ameirca is already fueling the trade war with china by imposing 200bn $ more levies consequently chines investors are reluctant to invest in america so the Monday night’s move sent global stock markets sharply lower and the Dow followed suit, dropping 400 points in early trading and closing 237 points down, a fall that wiped out all of this year’s gains.
